Without the need to travel far, you can discover the unique charm of the small mountain towns of Jiufen and Shifen on Taiwan’s northeastern shore.

We will be visiting :
➡ Yehliu Geopark, known for its surreal beauty of bizarre rock formation

➡ Yin Yang Sea, where the interplay of golden and azure waters is celebrated for the area's geological richness.

➡ Golden Waterfall, where visitors can witness the spectacle of cascading golden-hued water, tinted by minerals from nearby mines.

➡ Jiufen Old Street, a small mountain town with an enchanting, nostalgic atmosphere, renowned for the inspiration for Studio Ghibli's “Spirited Away”

➡ Shifen Waterfall, nicknamed the “Little Niagara Falls” of Taiwan. It is the only known curtain waterfall in Taiwan.

➡ Shifen Sky Lantern Plaza (Shifen Old Street), a mountain village where overseas travelers celebrate the iconic tradition of releasing sky lanterns.

Sean is an excellent guide, not only knowledgeable about his home country, but also easy-going, flexible, and helpful. He studied in the US, so his English is excellent (not a given at all in Taiwan!). Sean will help you to avoid tourist traps and show real gems.

On our North Taiwan (Yehliu/Jiufen/Shifen) tour, we managed to see a ton of places despite challenging weather, and learned a lot on the way.

Let's Go Taiwan is a small, well-run, family-owned business, so your money is not used to pay "overhead".

Had a fun full day visiting the different places. Sean was a great driver and tour guide. He was knowledgeable and articulate in explaining cultural and historical practices. We learned a lot from him from a cultural perspective.

Sean was also patient and took into account that we had an elderly person with us.

Despite the rain, we were able to see and experience as many things as we could. Tip: make sure to carry cash as cash is preferred in many food and retail stores.

Highlight for me was writing our wishes on the biodegradable lantern and setting it free. Without Sean explaining and calling the attention of the store staff, we wouldn't have had our photos and video taken by the staff. They did it so well!

Our guide Sean was amazing. Visited great places with the right mix of sights and time to explore. Very pleasant driving style and he shared a lot of information and insights that you would not get on a standard tour.

My girlfriend and I were traveling from the US to Taiwan to see my grandparents, we had Sean for a day tour to Jiufen and Jinguashi. He took us onto an epic hike at Teapot Mountain. The hike was about 2 hours in total. We got to see the Yin Yang Sea from the mountain and an abandoned entrance to a gold mine. The hike is a moderate level hike. It can be completed with regular tennis shoes. We later headed to Jiufen for lunch. My girlfriend is vegetarian so Sean took us to a old local family-own deli where we had red yeast rice served with dry bean curb. We later visited a tea house at Jiufen and had a elegant tea ceremony. Communication-wise, Sean does a really good job. He helped us create an itinerary for our entire stay in Taipei. Sean also speaks perfect English. We later learned that he graduated from a college in the US. Sean knows a lot about the local history and is very passionate about it. He told us many interesting trivia and stories about Jiufen and the origins of famous local food. Sean is really a big help if anyone is looking for a decent, quality tour guide in Taiwan!
