For many, the controlled chaos of Shibuya’s “Scramble” epitomizes the efficient madness of the cutting-edge city. Here, 10 lanes of traffic and five major crosswalks converge along a modern canyon of neon-colored buildings in the heart of Tokyo. The Shibuya Crossing serves as center-stage for a Times Square-inspired New Year’s Eve countdown and is the focal point for the wild Halloween celebrations that have grown increasingly famous in recent years.

Hachiko is believed to have been born in Odate, Akita Prefecture, in November 1923 and was adopted by university professor Hidesaburo Ueno who was living in Shibuya. The dog won a place in the country's heart for showing up at Shibuya Station every day awaiting its master's return from work, even after Ueno's death in 1925. Hachiko died in 1935. The tale inspired the 2009 U.S. film "Hachi: A Dog's Tale," which stars Richard Gere and was released to global audiences.

Whether you are in Tokyo for the first time or are a frequent visitor, Harajuku is a place you must go. It has long been noted for its wild fashion trends and Japanese youth culture. Many people visit this area on weekends and holidays. Large groups of tourists and high school students can usually be standing in front of the gateway declaring “Welcome to Takeshita Street.” The entrance also sits at the top of a hill. Takeshita Street is lined with clothing shops, cafes, dessert shops, and strange memorabilia. Accessory stores are trendy. Paris Kids is the first of many you will find walking down the street. Shinjuku Gyoen (新宿御苑) is one of Tokyo's largest and most popular parks. Located a short walk from Shinjuku Station, the park's spacious lawns, meandering walking paths and tranquil scenery provide a relaxing escape from the busy urban center around it. In spring Shinjuku Gyoen becomes one of the best places in the city to see cherry blossoms.

Tsukiji Outer Market is Japan’s “Food Town,” where one can encounter all kinds of traditional Japanese foods. A mixture of wholesale and retail shops, along with numerous restaurants, line the streets, and new culinary trends are born here. Originally Tsukiji Market catered primarily to professionals. That is why items sold there were generally too large for a small family to buy. However, some of the wholesale shops in the market have started retailing high-end merchandise to retail customers and visitors. For example, ready-to-eat sushi meals are now sold in smaller sizes. Even a bite-sized egg roll can be had for those who just want to try it. The following explains how the market has become so well-known and the trends that have shaped how it looks today.

Standing 333 meters high in central Tokyo, Tokyo Tower (東京タワー) is the world's tallest, self-supported steel tower and 3 meters taller than its model, the Eiffel Tower. A symbol of Japan's post-war rebirth as a major economic power, Tokyo Tower was the country's tallest structure from its completion in 1958 until 2012 when it was surpassed by the Tokyo Skytree. In addition to being a popular tourist spot, Tokyo Tower serves as a broadcast antenna.

Sensoji (浅草寺, Sensōji, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple) is a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa. It is one of Tokyo's most colorful and popular temples. The legend says that in the year 628, two brothers fished a statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, out of the Sumida River, and even though they put the statue back into the river, it always returned to them. Consequently, Sensoji was built nearby for the goddess of Kannon. The temple was completed in 645, making it Tokyo's oldest temple. A shopping street of over 200 meters, called Nakamise, leads from the outer gate to the temple's second gate, the Hozomon. Alongside typical Japanese souvenirs such as yukata and folding fans, various traditional local snacks from the Asakusa area are sold along the Nakamise. The shopping street has a history of several centuries.

The shrine was completed and dedicated to the Emperor Meiji and the Empress Shoken in 1920, eight years after the passing of the emperor and six years after the passing of the empress. The shrine was destroyed during the war but was rebuilt shortly thereafter. Emperor Meiji was the first emperor of modern Japan. He was born in 1852 and ascended to the throne in 1867 at the peak of the Meiji Restoration when Japan's feudal era came to an end and the emperor was restored to power. During the Meiji Period, Japan modernized herself to join the world's major powers by the time Emperor Meiji passed away in 1912.

The world's highest free-standing broadcast tower, Skytree stands 634 meters tall and has two observation decks, situated at 350 meters and 450 meters. A restaurant, cafe and souvenir shop are located on the lower deck. The tower is part of Skytree Town along with the Solamachi shopping complex, which has 312 restaurants and retail shops. Also in Solamachi are Sumida Machidokoro, a large retail complex showcasing work by local craftsmen; Chiba Institute of Technology, an exhibition space showing off the latest robot technology; Sumida Aquarium, home to a large colony of penguins, and the Postal Museum.

My name is Gigi and I am from Montreal. I had the 2 best guides in Tokyo, very knowledgeable and eager to accommodate my requests. I was travelling alone but Hamza offered to take close many pictures of me so I am coming back home with wonderful souvenirs. Malik and Hamza also recommended a delicious pakistanaise restaurant in the Tokyo tower, I recommend them 100% and if I could stay longer I would have booked the Mont Fuji tour with them. Do not hesitate an instant you will be in security and very happy you spent the day in their company.

Luckily for us we arrived at the peak of cherry blossom, rather like a famous comedian once said however this trip had all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order. We saw the highlights of Tokyo and very luckily for us the cherry blossom was perfect, but we had done our own research and had to prompt the guide continually. He was a good taxi driver, but not a guide. Unlike other Viator tours we have done, he needed some kind of boost to engage with us and be present. Just unfortunate on the day. The itinerary was good.

I feel that we saw most all of the main attractions of Tokyo on this full day (8 hours) city tour. Tokyo Skytree (long lines; would be nice to know what time this site would be visited as to select the advanced ticket time slot online ahead of time) and Tokyo Tower. Shrines and temples. Shibuya crossing and Hachiko statue, Shinjuku gardens. Lunch at the fish market. Waqar, our private driver, was very pleasant and patient with dropping us off, waiting for us to see the sights on our own and picking us up in a timely manner. Thank you for a great day Waqar!

It was an interesting and amazing tour to Tokyo city and downtown. Our tour guide Mr.Waqar was very caring and respectful,He told us about how Japanese people spent their daily routine in Tokyo. We visited Tokyo Tower 🗼 , We crossed Shibuya crossing the most busiest crossing of Japan 🇯🇵. We also visited Tokyo SkyTree we enjoyed a fabulous view of Tokyo city their and we did shopping 🛒 at harajuku street. I highly recommend to enjoy the Tokyo tour with Sunrise Tours ❤️

My sister and I planned a trip to Tokyo with my elderly parents, niece and nephew. We decided to do a day trip tour so that it would be easier for our parents to enjoy the sights of Tokyo. We made arrangements with Sunrise tours who sent us Waqar who is the best driver and tour guide ever!
Waqar came to pick us up at our hotel early and waited patiently for my family to settle in. He was sure our route was well planned out and gave us great and thorough insight on each location before getting there. With each location, he was so kind to let us stay for an extra amount of time to enjoy and explore the attractions.
Towards to the end of our trip, my elderly parents were having a hard time walking back to our pick up point. When I asked Waqar if he could drive into the crazy busy streets of Harajuku to pick us up, he gladly said ok and accommodated us!
It was the most comfortable and the most pleasant city tour of our lives! We greatly appreciate the wonderful experience that we had with Waqar and look forward to sharing it with friends and coming back for more.
