Experience the thrill of a lifetime with our doors-off helicopter tour over breathtaking Kauai. On this exhilarating adventure, you will feel the wind in your hair and get unobstructed views from our specially designed helicopter with the doors removed and pilot controls on the left hand side.

We fly a FULL 60-65 minute tour. You don’t want to settle for any less than 60 minutes, as this allows our pilots to take their time at each viewpoint and rotate the helicopter so all passengers have a great view regardless of seating arrangements.

We fly a MD500E aircraft, one of the safest and best helicopter makes in the world. Please know we fly a full tour with all seats sold.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

WHAT TO EXPECT

1.
After checking in at our office and verifying weights you will be given a thorough safety briefing. You will then be transported to our hangar where you will board the aircraft and meet your pilot.
2.
After taking off, your first scenic landmarks will be the Nawiliwili Harbor and historic Menehune Fishpond. This is a great time to test out the two way communication and chat with your pilot and introduce yourself.
3.
After soaring over the Tunnel of Trees in Poipu you will make your way inland and leave all signs of civilization behind you. You will make your way up Hanapepe Valley towards Manawaiopuna Falls, made famous in the opening scene of Jurassic Park.
4.
You will start to get a taste of Kauai's unique geography when flying over Olokele Canyon.

Known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, you will experience the best perspective of Kauai's famous canyon and it's array of beautiful colors that make up its soil and vegetation.

Fly right over the stunning Waipo'o falls, a multi-tier waterfall on the sheer cliffs of Waimea Canyon.

Some would call it the star of the show, the famous Na Pali Coast! Jaw-dropping beauty that will make you want to come back again and again. On our FULL hour tour you will get more time on the coastline than any of our competitors. Our pilots will be able to take you up close and personal with the stunning cathedrals of Kalalau, though remote lush valleys, and still have enough time to fly out and get a wide perspective of the entire coastline.

A stunning valley, ridge and beach along Na Pali coast that's almost always missed on the shorter 45 min tours of our competitors. Your pilot will fly you up close to these epic cliffs for a chance to spot wild goats roaming about.
9.
Get a view of the beautiful Ke'e beach, or as locals call it "the end of the road". This is the start to the Na Pali Coast Trail. It is also where your pilot will turn the helicopter so everyone on board can get one last view of the Na Pali Coast.

Get an incredible perspective of Tunnels Reef from the air. You'll realize why this reef is some of the best snorkeling/scuba diving in the world.
11.
As you fly down the coast of Kauai's North shore you will see many beaches including popular Hanalei Bay. You will fly up towards the stunning mountains above the sleepy little town that often have many waterfalls, especially after a little rain.
12.
After leaving the North Shore you will fly towards the center of the island to Mt Waialeale, Kauai's dormant shield volcano. It's epic crater is known as the Weeping Wall thanks to it's many waterfalls. The crater sees more than 450 inches of rainfall a year making it one of the wettest spots on Earth.
13.
Before heading back to the Lihue airport you will have the opportunity to see one more great landmark, the beautiful Wailua Falls.

I am a full-time resident of Kauai. When we decided to give our grandson and his friend a Kauai helicopter trip as graduation presents, there was no question which company to use. We always recommend Jack Harter Helicopters to our guests. Jack Harter started the copter tour business by flying VIPs around Kauai in the 1960's. Of the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai is the place to do this in part because you cannot access much of the island by car. To appreciate the full beauty and majesty of the island it must be seen from a helicopter. For our guests, it is an experience they will never forget.

Beyond fantastic. And extremely well run. We got a check-in call a few days before our flight which was very helpful. They let us know that it gets cold up there; wear closed shoes. I also recommend wrap-around sun glasses as it is very windy inside a doors-off helicopter. But totally fun!!! Great views as you can literally lean out a bit and see below as well as the great views all around you. Great way to see the beauty of Kauai. Our pilot, Chrissy, did a great job letting us know what to expect and telling us what we were seeing. She has thousands of hours of experience and we felt totally safe the entire time.

Wanted to do this for years so booked it for our 25th wedding anniversary. Our pilot Chrissy was fabulous! Not just a loop around the island but a great view of waterfall after waterfall, the mountains, and gorgeous coastline. Chrissy did a great job of turning the chopper at every sight so everyone gets a great view. Wear long pants and jacket for the wind draft!

I booked through Tripadvisor. Since the information about the schedule and meeting point was a bit scarce, I sent an email and quickly received a response about the time and meeting point. It was an experience to fly without doors. I had just had a sightseeing flight with doors in a Eurocopter EC 130, which was a lot quieter but also less spectacular. In the Hughes 500, 2 people + the pilot can sit in the front, although the view in the middle is probably somewhat restricted by the instruments, and 2 people can sit in the back, although the view to the front is severely restricted by the design of the helicopter. The person in the front right probably has the best view. However, you cannot choose your seat; it is allocated according to weight. At least we sat in the back and were able to look out to the side very well, better to our own side than to the side next to us, of course, but because of the small helicopter you could also see the side next to us well. Those sitting in the back right got the better seat due to the flight route. There were a few turns so that the person sitting on the left could also see a bit of the Napali Coast, but the coast mostly rushed past the right of the helicopter. Our pilot Stephanie talked a lot and flew confidently. However, you should be aware that the air currents in the canyons and on the coast can cause it to jolt and bump and it is very windy at the back. You should wear warm clothes and ideally protect your neck (scarves are not allowed) with a loop scarf. We were lucky with the weather and had lots of sun, no rain and great visibility. The untouched, green nature on Kaua'i was very impressive. Also the narrow canyons and the many waterfalls along the way. I was able to take lots of great photos. My partner filmed almost the entire flight to the right with the GoPro. The image stabilization of the GoPro gives you a great, calm video. Only when parts of the helicopter are on the film do you notice how much it was actually vibrating and shaking. If you have flown a helicopter before and were not afraid, I would recommend this flight. If you have never flown a helicopter before and are perhaps even a little afraid of flying, I would recommend a flight with doors first. It is more relaxed, quieter, but not so good for photos/videos due to the poor visibility and reflections in the windows.

Preston the pilot was awesome! Very informative! The views were amazing and doors off was definitely the way to go. Flying through some rain on and off was nerve wracking at first but we’ll worth it for the awesome views.

If you do only one activity in Kauai, this should be it. Eli and Stephanie were excellent guides and we loved our experience. Amazing views and a lot of souvenirs in our head!
