It’s cool but since 2012ish they made it so super commercial it was kind of a let down - the uplighting is cool but also disappointing that it’s artificially colored

Great tour to explore lava tunnel. While it is short, there are so many things to see. Even it is the end of June, still ice inside the tunnel.

This is honestly mindblowing! A truly amazing experience and worth every dollar. The cave/tunnel is beautiful and really gives a glimpse of the power of a volcano. Don't skip this one!

This was an interesting tour! It was 3 hours total when you add in the pick up and drop off time from Reykjavik, but the tour itself is 1 hour ... which was perfect for my family and kids. They could not have handled a longer tour! We learned a lot of interesting things about the volcanos and it was beautiful inside. Very worth it!

We decided to take the tour to the lava tunnel on our extra day in Reykjavik. We just spent 10 days around Iceland. It was a great decision and we are very pleased that we have the time to visit the lava tunnel. We have seen numerous and large lava fields during our trip. The lava tunnel lets you see below the story and how lava flowed.

The tour is very organized and easy to book online. We took the transfer from the BSI Bus Terminal in Reykjavik. The tour sent all the necessary information on how to get there and the time. Bus departed on time. After 30-40 minutes in the road, we arrived to the location.

The tour guide provides all the necessary information about safety and what to expect when walking in the tunnel. They have the training and also had a way to connect with the office in case of any emergency during the tour. There is enough artificial light to make sure you can walk safe. You are also provided with helmets that have a light. The access is easy and there are stairs and platforms where you can enjoy the tour. Our tour guide was excellent. She provided all the information on how the tunnel formed and other interesting features about life developing in the tunnel (including bacteria growing thanks to the darkness and the mineral composition of the rock). She was really good at explaining and showing all the details. She was very informative and energetic.

It was a wonderful experience to close our trip to Iceland. My wife and I definitely recommend it in case you want to learn how Iceland and the lava fields have developed!

This was an amazing hike through a lava tunnel! Our guide was funny and also very knowledgeable about the geology and formation of the tunnel. He made sure that we stayed together and no one got left behind. Safety was his primary concern and he told us about the trail possibly being wet and/or icy. We got some amazing pictures and the guide took pictures of everyone that wanted one. I would highly recommend this tour!

on 12 april 2024 we took a tour to lava tunnel with Reykjavik excursions. Meeting point was in BSI bus terminal. Departure at 9:00 in a small bus. The driver was nice and welcoming, and he drove carefully. We reached the lava tunnel in around 50 mn. There we met the guide Soley. She showed us how to put the crampons, the helmet and they even offered us to use a stick to avoid slipping. The lava tunnel is amazing: red color from iron, yellow color from sulfur. Soley was a great guide , she was very informative , funny, nice and smiling. She explained how this tunnel was formed , the ice formation inside it, the colors … i definitly recommend this tour, especially with Soley.

This was such an incredible trip to do in April when the cave was full of ice stalagmites that almost looked like ghosts. I've been in several caves around the world and have never seen anything quite like this - magical! The tour guide was really knowledgeable and pointed out the different types of lava that showed how the tunnel was formed and how the lava had cooled. You are slip-on crampons and a hard hat to wear with a torch and we were also offered poles. I didn't take one and would do so next time as it was a bit slippery in parts on the way in. Well worth it if you have a spare half a day in Reykjavik. We took the transfer out there which was quick and comfortable too.
