Lunch will be at a local restaurant where you can sample some of Kyoto’s famous cuisine (at your own expense). After lunch, continue your exploration of Kyoto, perhaps visiting the Fushimi Inari Shrine with its famous torii gate pathway, or the Philosopher’s Path, a beautiful walk along a canal lined with hundreds of cherry trees.
As the day draws to a close, your guide will escort you back to your hotel, ending a day full of discovery and adventure.

This not a guided tour, but a ride around Kyoto in a minivan. Our “guide“ could barely eke out a few words of English. If we weren’t talking to each other, we’d be riding in total silence the entire time. We did not learn a morsel of new information on this “tour”. Not one fact from our “guide”! So we have a lot of questions about the purpose and the cost of having another person in the care (in addition to the driver), both of whom were effectively mutes. Since this is supposed to be a customizable tour, we through out half of the proposed stopping points, and wanted to spend more time in fewer locations. As a result, we shortened the duration of our tour by a couple of hours. Despite that, the organizers insisted on charging us $50 extra to have half of our group picked up from two different hotels. For $750 all in, this felt like an extravagant waste of money.
