Take a guided hike in Griffith Park to enjoy the stunning views of the Hollywood Sign, Griffith Observatory and LA skyline. Throughout the course of the hike we will ascend the equivalent of 15 flights of stairs at a leisurely pace and take frequent stops to admire the views and hear about the history of this beautiful terrain. Often there are film crews shooting scenes along this trail, who knows who we might spot? As we approach the belly of Griffith Observatory, the iconic Hollywood Sign will come into view and provide a spectacular backdrop to your photos that will make you the envy of all your friends. Get close to the REAL stars at Griffith Observatory, LA’s renowned astronomy museum, with its sweeping terraces. You have the option of entering the building (closed Mondays) after the tour or take the short hike back with your guide. Designed by a former Observatory employee, no other tour presents the history, beauty and context of this area quite like we do, come find out why!

We recently went on the Hollywood Sign/ Griffith Park Hike through Experience First. Our fantastic guide, Paul, led us around Griffith Park, through the quaint hillside neighborhood of Los Feliz to Griffith Observatory! Throughout the tour we enjoyed stunning views of Los Angeles, the Hollywood Sign and the local flora and fauna, as well as Paul’s vast treasury of local knowledge and stories of the area and its residents. His enthusiasm and affinity for Griffith Park and Los Feliz (really all of Los Angeles) were evident and helped to make this tour an absolutely wonderful part of our vacation itinerary! We highly recommend Experience First Tours, as well as any tour with Paul as a guide!

We opted for the morning tour to hike to the Griffith Observatory and see the Hollywood sign, not knowing what awaited us. To our delight, our guide, Paul Norwood, was incredibly engaging and knowledgeable. He started us off with a visit to the Greek Theatre, where he kept us entertained and informed. As we trekked to the Griffith Observatory, Paul stopped at beautiful spots for photos and views of the LA skyline. Our group of 4 adults, 1 teenager, and 2 children never once felt bored thanks to Paul's storytelling and energy. We were surprised with a tour of the exclusive Los Feliz neighborhood, complete with fascinating facts about the architecture and residents. Meeting coyotes along the way only added to our excitement. The Griffith Observatory and Hollywood sign exceeded our expectations, making the 2.5 hours well worth it. We highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to start their LA adventure with a mix of beauty and history. Thank you, Paul, for an unforgettable experience that went above and beyond.

The hike was a blast! Paul is a great tour guide, so full of knowledge yet down to earth and polite! His storytelling skills are superb when it comes to any history bit or fun fact about Griffith Park, from true events of the past concerning the park (and LA as a whole) to spooky or uncanny stories related to the area. Paul provides you with any trivia that you need, from geographical point of interest, to wildlife and fauna and more! The hike is a must to experience a unique wilderness a few miles from the sprawling urban area. The view gets better and better while climbing up to the observatory. It may be foggy but that should not stop anybody from experiencing it, because that gives a more mysterious glance to the whole landscape (and it does get less foggy during the hike!).

Great hike! Great tour guide! Great memories! Definitely worthy of a second round if coming to LA in the future.

Just went on this tour on Saturday, for my birthday. Our guide was Matt. We had a good time overall. The suggestions I would make are:

1) on your website it says tour begins and ends at the same location, that is not true. Tour begins at Franklin cafe but ends at Griffith Observatory, so you either need to catch the Dash bus down or walk.

2) I don't know if this is what Matt has to do, but he talked a lot about LA transportation and how bad it is (which is true) and a few other topics that did not pertain to our walk. We stopped a lot to hear him talk and I think that is why we ran a little over in the tour.

3) Also, when we began the tour Matt said the first hill would be the hardest part, at least for me the big hills getting up to the observatory were harder so I think that should be omitted

We appreciated Matt taking the time to take pictures for us of the sign and Observatory and telling us where the best spots would be for pictures.

I thought we would be right near the sign, which we weren't which was an oversight on my end.
