The tasting has options between cocktails and the liquor. Each bottle of rum was unique and tasty. They also allow you to sample honey, sugarcane juice, and hot sauce. Highly recommend doing as either a solo traveler or with a group.

Green experience. Hostesses were very nice and informative about the history of the factory. Rams are also very tasty!

Interesting to learn about the sugar cane, the process, where they ship/sell it and the tasting was fun. The honey they offered us was the best I ever had.

This Distillery is a must everytime visiting Oahu. I love seeing how much they grow and expand each time I return. The staff are super attentive. The California Transplant that gave us our tour really really loves her job. I felt like she could write a book on Sugar Cane Sex: the Art of Tasseling. It was only 136 degrees out, and she taked about ancient horny sugarcane chewing for sexy time or adopting kids. Kinda TMI. Then she knew everything ever created about honey, aging of rum in the barrels and magic hotsauce aged in old honey stored rum casks. The consensus is next time, straight to the tasting to prevent heatstroke. I say this in jest, as our tour guide was quite passionate about her job and quite knowledgeable. Next time just mainline all the rum varieties right into my belly!

Yesss!! I loved it. The rum was a great addition to my alcoholism Lmaooo. It was amazing. Garrett was our tour guide and expert. He really did his thing. He was so well spoken with the group. He helped with the language barrier for some and that was a huge plus. If you have time in your travels, please visit.

This place is great across the board from the insightful tour, to the professional staff and delicious rum.

I’m not a rum connoisseur by any stretch, but I’d say Ko Hana is Hawaii’s best quality and most flavorful Rum when you stack it up against its competitors across the state. Aside from the traditional pours, they also offer coffee rum and chocolate rum, which are both delicious.

Before you do the tasting, taking the time to enjoy the tour is certainly worth it. The history is very interesting and the fact that you can see one of their sugarcane fields from the barrel house is awesome and throws an exclamation point on freshness and a “cane to glass” mentality. Needless to say, no refined sugar and fake garbage in this rum.

A couple tips.. you can book your tour online and this is prudent if you plan to visit on a weekend. The location is a bit obscure up between Waipahu and the Army base, so ensure to build in a reasonable amount of commute time. If you’re driving there from Waikiki, recommend visiting in the morning or early afternoon. If you wait too long, westbound traffic patters can get nasty with the Honolulu workday mass exodus and trust me you don’t want to get caught in that.

Give this place a chance and enjoy!

The Ko Hana Rum Tour and Tasting was a nice way to spend a few hours after a beach morning. The tour guide seemed knowledgeable and made it a fun time. We sampled fresh cane juice, learned about the sugar cane they choose as well as the aging and distilling process. The tasting was interesting - you can choose between the regular rum flight, one with extra rum options, or a daiquiri flight. We chose one rum and one daiquiri tasting, and both were very good (stronger than we thought it would be). The merchandise available for sale was extensive but seemed a little high priced. We planned our reservation to take advantage of the BBQ joint that is only there a few days a week, and it was a real treat. Most of the guests on our tour were excited to eat lunch there too, with seating on the patio right outside the gift shop. I would definitely recommend this outing.
