Your experience begins with a short video presentation in the main museum. After the video your guide will lead you on a short walking tour along the banks of the New River. You will visit the Pioneer House Museum, and the 1899 Replica Schoolhouse Museum, before returning to view the Seminole culture, Maritime history and pioneer exhibits in the main museum. All three museums are located on the picturesque banks of the New River right in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Enjoyed the guided tour as well as the solo tour. Very informative. The receptionist and our tour guide were friendly and helpful.

Lovely trip with Daniel for the guided tour guide for Schoolhouse and Pioneer house. For the history museum, the second floor is self guided, and the third floor is all artists, so artist Stephanie showed us around.

From the moment I walked in and Val greeted me with a beautiful, pleasant smile. I knew I was in for a great afternoon experience. I arrived 30 minutes before the tour, I got to pre-game and it was cool to check out the art work and meet one of the actual artist, Stephanie McMillan and she shared stories about her art and showed me around the other artist exhibits. Daniel was the tour guide and you could tell he did his research of the land and the history of Ft. Lauderdale. I’ll definitely be back with my granddaughter 🩵

Daniel,the tour guide, had a great knowledge and passionate for the history of Fort Dearborn. He showed the school and told me the story how the store was brought down the river. We went through the kitchen items and how their functions. I appreciated the People of Color inclusion in the museum.

Morning for Lauderdale this is one of the most historic places in South florida. It is full of artifacts and artwork by local artists. The staff were very welcoming and personally showed us information on the history of this great city. We are so glad we came here today and thank you to the curator and Florencia for sharing her God-given Talent with us.

We chose the Docent guided tour and truly enjoyed the entire experience from the friendly staff to the wonderful artist co-op. Our Docent Daniel was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell he really enjoys sharing the history of Fort Lauderdale. Kudos to Daniel! I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the early beginnings of this fabulous city. And a great location within walking distance to restaurants and to the New River to complete a perfect afternoon.

This tour taught me a lot about the past and I got to see some things from back in the 1900’s. It was beautiful and I would definitely come again.

The tour was nice, the Tour Guide was knowledgeable, although very little information was given about the Black and the Indian settlements in the area.
