Travel to the heart of the Mekong Delta on this small group adventure tour from Ho Chi Minh City. You'll board a private longtail boat, experience the diversity of the Mekong waterways first hand as you explore fish farms, exotic fruit farms and dine on traditional Mekong Delta food.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We will meet our guide there. Escape the city for a tour of the Mekong Delta, where you'll see what life is like beyond the urban centre of the south. About 2.5 hours away is the city of My Tho, a former naval base that is now a bustling port city in the Mekong Delta. The area is the final destination of the mighty Mekong River, which winds its way from Tibet, through China, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, and finally into Vietnam. An incredibly fertile region, the Mekong Delta's prime industry is food production, producing approximately half of Vietnam's total agricultural output. Local life for villages in the area revolves around the rivers and canals that make up the delta, so much so that people are more likely to transport by river than road. Upon arrival into My Tho, we board our private boat for a cruise on the Mekong River. Our first stop is at a fish farm, to gain an insight into one of the cottage industries in the region. On our Mekong tour, we'll visit an island with lush tropical gardens where we have a chance to sample tropical fruit. Continuing to another island in the Mekong Delta, we'll learn more about another cottage industry, coconut candy. Your local guide will take you to a factory and explain the process of making the sweet. As we meander down the Mekong, we'll have a chance to visit local villages in the area and learn more about the traditional lifestyles, culture, and customs of people who call the Delta their home. Continuing on our Mekong discover, we'll travel by Xe Loi (motorised cart), and visit a bee farm, from where we'll transfer to a smaller rowing boat to help us get deeper into the smaller canals of the Delta.

For lunch, we'll hit up Diem Phuong restaurant, where your local guide will provide you with some advice on the finer points of local cuisine and assist with ordering some of these delicacies.
3.
We'll head back to My Tho for the journey back to Ho Chi Minh City where you will be dropped off at your hotel.

My husband and I had a wonderful trip with Thao as our tour guide. She was so knowledgeable about the Mekong Delta region, and wonderful company all day. It was my birthday and she arranged for a cake at the lunch stop for me, which was so lovely and made the day extra special.

NIce diverse tour in 7 hours. Quite a drive (2x1.5hours) but still lots of interesti g tvings done. Great tour guide Thao! She gave us great insights and was very informative.

This trip was a once in a life time experience, with beautiful scenery and food and extremely nice and welcoming locals. Our tour guide Nancy was incredibly helpful and catering to all of our needs. She was very informative, describing all of the food we were eating, where it came from and how it was made and she explained each activity to us before we partook in them. She made us feel at ease and made the experience more enjoyable. Would highly recommend this tour and guide!

Excellent tour from start to finish. Nguyên (Nancy) was a kind, funny and very informative guide, offering lots of insights on history and culture throughout the day trip. After a minibus ride full of information and a stop over to get coffee and experience a garden. We boated across the Mekong to different islands enjoying the local fruit, coconut and honey before having a wonderful and generous lunch. The different villagers were all very welcoming. We learned lots about the area and sampled it's produce. We had a rowing boat ride through the smaller channels before getting.the larger boat back across the Delta. We experienced a tropical downpour too!! Nguyên was brilliant, and made the experience perfect for us. Our thanks to our driver too. It was a wonderful day trip to do!!

We had a great time on the Mekong Delta day trip from HCMC. Our guide, Nancy, was very friendly and knowledgeable, the itinerary was interesting and the food good. I particularly enjoyed the sampan experience, as well as the honey tea. I would recommend the trip for anyone in HCMC.

Nancy was a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide who had answers to all our questions. The tour involved a variety of different stops and activities that made for a very memorable experience involving a visir to local honey bee hives and seeing how they make coconut candy to cruising along coconut groves in a sampan.
