This was a great tour! The only thing I’d change is the meet up instructions to be a little bit clearer but once we found the group, it was great. Our guide was super knowledgeable and I felt like we got a lot more out of the Doge’s Place and San Marco than if we just went and looked around ourselves. Absolutely recommend it!

This trip was an absolute rip-off. We booked for four people to visit the Basilica and Doge's Palace. On arrival we were told that the Basilica had been shut in the morning and had re-opened at 14.00 (the time our tour was due to start), however as it was shut in the morning, the tour guides 'had not had time to go and collect our tickets' (even though we were about to spend two hours in the Doge's Palace), therefore we were NOT visiting St Mark's Basilica, even though it was now OPEN! So we had to stand in St Mark's Square listening to the history of the Basilica, watching the visitors walk around the balcony and enjoy their visit inside the church. We were offered no refund, no tickets for a future time/date, just told by the tour guides that they felt bad for us, and we needed to complain directly to the organisers. How can this be allowed? We wrote to the tour company Viator and were told they were unable to offer us any refund/even a partial refund to cover the cost of the tickets to the Basilica. Absolutely dreadful customer service, we will not be booking another trip with TripAdvisor.

The tour guide was really friendly and very knowledgeable. She was quite patient for one couple who was running late, but that seemed to cause her to rush the palace tour a bit. We felt very rushed and like we’d missed much of the palace due to the rush. The Basilica was lovely and she explained the reason for the short tour there and provided good information along the way. While we appreciated her kindness in waiting for the one couple it would have been nice if she could have not rushed the tour so much in the last areas of the palace. We felt that too much was focused on the art and not enough on the historical backdrop. Overall we enjoyed the tour but wish we’d been able to enjoy more of the palace with our guide.

Well worth while but highly recommend going in early and don't go with a tour group as they missed out the prison full details. Do it on your own where you can take your time looking at what you want to see. :)

Doge’s Palace was beautiful. It was unlike anything we expected. Our guide was so amazing and she knew the best things to tell about. She was also just so kind and made our experience that much better!

Ilana (Hilary), was our tour leader. She was extremely knowledgeable and did a great job with our group. My only suggestion would be that those with disabilities be discouraged from this tour. There were a lot of steps involved which one guest could not navigate, and it took time away from Ilana and the tour. I would highly recommend.

Beware of purchasing a tour from Viator. St. Mark's Basilica skip-the-line entry is why I purchased this tour, as the place is very popular. When we arrived at the meeting point, we were told the tour agency had not secured us the tickets to the Basilica and that we would only see Doge's palace. The guide mentioned that this was the second day this had happened as they only buy tickets earlier the same morning when they are often sold out. Viator refused to refund even a portion of the tour price. I do not recommend spending this much money- find a local tour agency that is not a middleman.

We arrived to an easy to find meeting point. We were directed to stand in the sun to wait for the tour to begin. We were told we could not go into the Basilica because it was closed for a ceremony for the day. No entrance voucher was provided for entry at a later time or next day and no refund was issued. Amazingly, We were able to purchase tickets two hours later to enter the Basilica on our own. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable however, there was a lot of static and she had to keep adjusting her head set. I understand that things come up but issue an entrance voucher for another time. I am glad we made an attempt later in the day to see what we paid for many months in advance during our short stay!!! I would NOT recommend this tour.

Excellent and informative tour of the Doge's palace and Basilica. Headsets were a plus as it allowed us to hear our guide easily while navigating the crowded attractions. Skip the line was smooth and much appreciated as there were large queues.

A visit inside St. Mark's Basilica was what was advertised and billed. I understand unexpected events can cause closures, but that doesn't mean you get to keep the full amount that was paid. If only part of a tour can be provided, the payment should be partial as well. Walking outside of the Basilica that everyone can do for free is not a fair replacement for not being able to enter the Basilica.
