You will put on the traditional samurai outfit and wield a katana just like a real samurai. This is the only samurai sword experience in Kyoto where you would feel like a real samurai and have a real hands on sword experience different from some simple costume play. Many people come to Japan to learn about the history of samurai and fulfill their childhood dream of being a samurai and this is it. The lesson includes hakama wearing, wearing samurai armor and samurai helmet and posing in front of several samurai-theme backgrounds.

I was humiliated by the instructor in front of everyone. For a “family-friendly” tour it should not be expected that you pick up every instruction on the first go especially when there are language barriers. It really ruined my experience. The museum part was excellent.

Fun time for kids!!! It is not well described you don’t experience Samurai you are taught to be a Samurai that for kids is ok

It was an amazing tour very informative and we couldn’t stop laughing. S/o to our tour guide for making it so enjoyable and fun definitely recommend by boy Nobu he’s the “goat” complete insider! Check out the tour you won’t regret it! My sister and I had the best time and the greatest pictures at the end

The museum is small, but really interesting including weapon throw and samurai clothing. The guide was also very good. The sword activity was basically ok, but they put too many people inside, so there was not enough space to really practice the sword without hitting other people.

Not just fun, but super educational to learn about the Edo period, samurai, and ninjas! And to end the experience with ninja star throwing contest, our kids loved it!

Great family outings! Lots of walking from one location to another. The package made us walk 3 different locations. We first tried the kimono, second to samurai museum, and lastly the samurai village. It was not too bad because it took around 5 minutes to walk from one to the other.
