From the early Heian period to the collapse of the Tokugawa shogunate the samurai and ninja always roamed the streets of Kyoto. Now they are back! The samurai and ninja museum brings back the history and helps you to have a glimpse of these heroes’ glorious lives. What is more, you can have a hands on experience including wearing a samurai armor, doing a shuriken (ninja star) throw and using a ninja blowgun all in one place, all included in the tour.

We prepaid for 4 tickets last week but the place has closed down and does not exist at the current address. We wasted around $80. Not sure how to recover the money if we even can.

We had a great time with the tour and our guide Jin 😁 it was very informative and they had the full history of both samurai and ninjas to guide their show room. Would recommend for a quick tour and experience 😁

It’s a small insightful museum with a great experience to dress as samurai and be a ninja in action. Jin our guide was funny and informative

I really enjoyed the history about the ninjas and Samuari. Shingo was very knowledgeable and appreciated the ninjas stars. I came in second.

This was a last minute purchase because we were in the area of the museum. I’m so glad we went! We parked a lot about the history of the Ninja and the Samurai. We left with an understanding of contemporary Japanese culture - why things are the way they are today.

Not a great experience. First they have you put on samurai armor props, which are mainly cheap plastic props you can buy at a party shop. They take pictures of your family with your phone but it’s obvious they are photo amateurs and the photos are not great quality. They rush you through a tour of some samurai items (which are real, authentic, and old, including sword and armor displays dating up to 700 years old), but there isn’t enough time to read the displays. The Ninja portion consists of throwing plastic ninja stars at styrofoam targets. Overall, don’t recommend.

I especially liked the historical insight and the different samurai armors. Everything else was just a fun goodie.
