Discover the National Capital of Trekking and be amazed by this mountain village. Be mesmerized by the incredible landscapes and explore some of its trails.
We will embark on a journey to the town of El Chaltén (National Capital of Trekking), located 220 km from El Calafate. During our journey, we will cross the Santa Cruz River and make a brief stop at Estancia La Leona. We will then continue our journey to El Chaltén, skirting the Viedma Lake with its homonymous glacier. Weather permitting, you will have breathtaking views of Mount Chaltén and Mount Torre, as well as the Viedma Glacier and its stunning icebergs.
Upon arrival in Chaltén, you will have 5 hours to explore and enjoy this small mountain village.
Available year-round and ideal for those who prefer a less demanding hike. Visit the Mirador de los Cóndores, approximately 700 meters away with low difficulty, and the Chorrillo del Salto, a completely flat 300-meter walk. You will be accompanied by a guide.

We saw guanaco and rhea from the road but it would have been nice to stop and take pictures. I think El Chalten would be better explored by basing directly there for a couple of days.

Great excursion…be aware that it’s a 3 hour drive from El Calafate to El Chaltén. We were fortunate to have sunny weather. Enjoyed seeing the peaks from the Condor lookout and the wonderful waterfall. Glad I went. Probably would have enjoyed spending a few nights there to hike the area more. Definitely a must-see!

As long as you have the legs you have to visit it, there was snow and ice that complicated the paths, but what we were able to travel is worth it, and what we did not see is the excuse to return

Terrible experience, there is no hiking or 4x4 tour, they did not notify us beforehand and they made us take a tour that we had bought for the next day also to Chaltén but with trekking to the condor zero, lunch and visiting a waterfall, they made us cancel the trip. tour the other day because we were going to do the same one, I canceled and they did not refund my money arguing that I had booked the same tour twice when that was not the case, they never responded to the emails. A robbery and a terrible agency.

Fun day! The hike was fun and once we were at the top the views were amazing. It was a long drive from El Calafete but our guide was terrific providing a lot of great history and info. The 4x4 part of the excursion was a bit misleading as there was not a true 4x4 adventure as we were expecting (four wheeling) but rather a 40 min ride in a van over some rough terrain to get to the start of the hike.
Overall we would do this trip again!
