This was a great experience as we learned history as well as the recipes. Delicious meals and unlimited cocktails, i reccomend this.

I was extremely disappointed.
To begin, most of the time, only one person was cooking. After we had all made our caipirinhas, we rotated with having one to two people cook at a time. This meant that most of the time (our group was 7 people, so that was like 75% of the time), we were sitting around watching someone else cook. While I see value in this, every other cooking classes I have attended have the attendees much more involved.
Second, we used an AIR FRYER to cook the picanha steak. As far as I am aware, this is not a traditional method of cooking the steak. Considering that the advertisement promoted the use of local cooking methods and ingredients, I was quite shocked to see this.
Overall, it really seemed like they were trying to cut corners (for whatever reason, time or cost). The location was small, which probably explains the above two complaints. However, I have taken cooking classes in now five countries, and not only was this one the worst, but also the most expensive.
Alex the guide was great, but for the above reasons, I do not recommend this cooking class.

For a cooking class at this price, I would have expected to be doing more than waiting around 5/6 of the time.
I also found it strange that they cooked the picanha steak in the AIR FRYER. This is not a traditional method to cook the picanha steak -- for a cooking class that advertised experiencing local foods and cooking methods, this failed my expectations.
Overall, it felt like they were really trying to cut corners and that was extremely disappointing. Alex was a good instructor, but these aspects of the class really soured the experience.

Alex was extremely knowledgeable and helpful at the supermarket— the recipes and food that he made and showed us were awesome!! Definitely recommend while in RIO!!

Omg! Alex was amazing!!! We had such a great time and learned so much. I couldn’t even express how much fun we had. We sat around family style and immersed ourselves in Brazilian culture, food and fun! My group of coworkers loved it! The food was delicious! We now all feel like Alex is apart of our family. Cooking in Rio is the best!! We got great pictures to remember the fun we had and laugh about! Thank you so much Alex for such a great time for our first time in Brazil!

I loved this cooking class. I went with my wife for our honeymoon and it was so great. Chef Alex really involved us and now I feel like I can make some dishes at home. You also get more than enough food. We were so full by the end of it.

The host Alex was great. He made the evening a fun, educational and bonding experience. He got everyone in the class and gave us numerous helpful tips. Also, the recipes he shared were on point. I would highly recommend this class to anyone considering taking it.

So much fun and I learned so much about Brazilian cooking. I am looking forward to trying these dishes when I get back to the US. Sending PDF’s of the recipes was an added and much appreciated extra.
