I was not sure able driving so I booked this tour, wicked turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. The host Annabel had a great energy, we were a small group and she attended to our needs with her vast knowledge on the tour. It was a true experience full of great memories. Many thanks Robin

We booked our tour a few days before as the weather was hit and miss. But the day of our tour, it was just eight of us plus our guide and driver. So the tour was splendid as Annabelle was just great and Nono (I think that’s how to spell his name,:sorry if it’s wrong) were great answering questions and enjoying a meal with us.

The guide was called I think Anabelle
I don't speak English properly and especially understand it poorly and don't speak Portuguese.
The guide was super nice and made the effort to translate everything into French for me.

Great trip! Easy access to the bus, lots of shops with the yellow bus flags to ask questions
The only downside is booking the boat cruise can only be done the same day, and there is always a long line to book it

Boat trips from Porto to Douro Valley are unavailable in March and we weren't sure if it'd be worth going there this time of the year as the valley could be barren and brown. But since we found a reasonably priced full day van tour with Yellow Bus, we decided to go for it. (Do book online from their website for even better value.)
For people who get sick on winding roads, this trip is good as there are several stops on the way in the villages. The valley itself was beautiful, so you enjoy the drive. The entire landscape was green & amazing! Photos cannot do justice to it. The visit to the wine centre was interesting as well and the views from there were mind-blowing. I'd have loved to hang out there for a little more time, though as it felt a bit rushed, since we had to leave in 20 minutes after tasting. Our guide was informative and she kept us interested throughout. It was a very good fun day out!
We also enjoyed the free hop-on, hop-off tickets that came with the Douro Valley tour...very convenient to get to far off places like Foz and see the rest of Porto.

Nice drive out. Declined the lunch option so had a siesta hour to kill in sleepy Pinhao: found a nice bar.
Great boat ride: plenty enough time on board.
Visit to the Sandeman port house was standard except you finish in a classy bar with fabulous views!

I thought we were going in a group of 8 people, not 25. The trip left an hour late and we ended up at a winery that was included for a wine tasting. Not a great event. Too long and not great wines and guide was boring. Sorry, but the worst tour we have been on with viator. We normally like viator.

The trip was nice I got to know pretty big about the region and the informations were passed while we were driving from time to time so it wasn't tiresome to listen and absorb. There was too little walking form me as I prefer to spent time more actively while the trip day I was sitting in the bus except whole walking part was 1 hour/ 1,5 hour in total from sitting in the boat. Yet it was very relaxing day.
One thing which annoyed me and quite spoilt me the beginning of the trip was the problem which my e-ticket, as it was said I didn't need to be printed, although the machine was unable to read it and I spent half an hour at ticket office because they didn't allowed me to go unless they read the ticket code and it finished by emailing them the pdf of ticked after having weakened my phone battery by changing size of the ticked code for 30 minutes. Also it's said to be 15 min in advance while they open the office at 9 am and whole thing starts then.
