Cross the border into Spain and retrace part of St James Way – a sacred route followed by centuries of pilgrims – on a visit to Santiago de Compostela from Porto. On this memorable day trip, explore Compostela's famous cathedral and the city's UNESCO World-Heritage-listed Old Town. Back in Portugal, pay a visit to Valença do Minho, dominated with a fortress of two towers and a double great wall projected in the Vouban style during the return ride to Porto.

I was able to catch the mass at the beautiful church. Very solemn and sacred. The town was charming and we had very good food at one of the restos. Perfect paella and wine to go with it.

Such an inspiring way to spend the day! Communication with the company was easy and frequent if needed. The meeting location was easy to find. We departed promptly and the buses were cool and comfortable. Driver was quick and safe. Andre was a great host and very informative throughout the entire trip. He made sure everybody was accounted for individually and personally.

We were given very specific instructions on meeting points and times to meet and we’re shown all the locations so there wouldn’t be any delays or confusion.

The lunch was delicious and filling! I highly recommend including the lunch option because we were guaranteed a seating and a delicious meal, and served in a timely manner. We had just enough time to observe the inside of the cathedral immediately following a Sunday mass hosted by the bishop of Santiago.

Some moments felt a little rushed, however it also accounted for just enough time to get all the necessary siting and shopping executed.

We briefly stopped at a local gas station an hour into the drive. Then again at a small cute town at the Portugal/Spain border for any drinks and snacks needed. The day went by quickly & it was an easy excursion for any age or group size. Some of us were solo and others were with families or spouses. We were Fed well entertained, and well informed.

The Cathedral itself is breathtaking and worth the trip however you plan to get there. But booking with this company allowed for all the planning to be done for us!!! Worry free!

Santiago De Compostela was very beautiful and amazing! Wish we could’ve attended mass. We also enjoyed lunch and the visit to the fort at Valença afterward.

The tour was great. Our guide Paulo, and driver Manuel was awesome. Paulo gave context to what we were going to be seeing. Santiago de Compostela was a little busy. We were able to see the Cathedral and walked through the town. The lunch was really good. In my past experience, lunch with tours are marginal. This lunch was authentic and very good. We enjoyed Valenca do Minho, but wish we were able to stay longer.
I'd recommend this trip if you wanted to see Santiago de Compostela and Valenca do Minho.

The driver and tour guide was Cristian. We had expected a large number of people but there were only 6 of us; a benefit to travelling in winter. We travelled in a good Mercedes 9 sea people mover. Cristian effortlessly moved from Portuguese to English, providing excellent information about Porto and Santiago de Compostela. We appreciated the toilet stops and how we did not have to pay to enter. The city centre of Santiago is beautiful and it was inspirational to see the Pilgrims arrive from their long faith walks to step into the shell before they headed to mass. A highlight was the amazing tapas style lunch. The food was delicious and we could not get through all of it. We had ample time to explore the city including the magnificent park (a must see). We arrived in time to attend mass in the cathedral if we wanted. The cathedral itself is very beautiful. On our return we stopped at Valenca and explored the walls of the city. We took photos of the river that separates Spain and Portugal. The trip home was good and Cristian knew that we needed quiet after a full day. It was a wonderful day.
