What makes us different from other operators? They put 10 to 15 guests for boat.
We prefer maximum 6 guests for boat. Since all operators are allowed maximum 2 hours in the whale shark area this policy allows you maximum time in the water, better ratio guide / guests and a more personal experience.
According to regulation other operators allow 5 swimmers and the guide at the same time in the water. If you have come with your partner we prefer you two swim alone with the whale shark, without sharing your first whale shark encounter with strangers.
If you come with children or many members of your family you and your guide will decide the best way for you to enjoy, maybe small groups as starter and a final jump with all together.
If you are elderly or poor swimmer, or just a bit shy the guide may jump with you alone to make sure you have the best experience possible.

Going on a trip with VIP Tours in La Paz is absolutely fantastic, we've been on on the tour with them 3 times already and looking forward to come back. They really know how to make our trips special.
This trip we did Whale Sharks tour and Island of Espiritu Santo tour. Swimming alongside gentle giants – the magnificent whale sharks is such a treat. Being so close to the shark is breathtaking experience and tour guides make sure each guest spends plenty of time with shark and get a really good look at them.
The experience was followed by the lunch at a stunning beach, best ceviche I've ever had!
Second tour of this trip, we went to Espiritu Santo island, a jewel of the Sea of Cortez. VIP Tours orchestrated a perfect day, filled with snorkeling adventures where we encountered vibrant marine life in their natural habitat. The highlight was swimming with playful sea lions, whose curiosity and agility amused us all. On our way to the Island we even saw a humpback whale, very nice unexpected surprize!
As repeat customers, our expectations were high, yet once again, VIP Tours exceeded them and provided a magical journey. Each excursion with them is a testament to their genuine desire to create memories that last a lifetime!
Very happy with our tour guides Angel and Katrin, and booking manager Katya - it was very efficient and professional communication, fast replies and she made sure our experience was seamless!

We went ok the tour at the end of the season, which decreases the probability of still encountering a whale shark. Three boats had found their shark, but instead of our guide Angel & captain Nico were all but complacent and did their outmost best to explore areas that were not targeted yet - higher risk, but the reward was so worth it!
We spent an hour in the water: Angel was equipped with a GoPro. He ensured we had amazing pics & videos, we only had to focus on our swimming and on the whale shark. The snorkel equipment was clean & relatively new. The boat was in good condition.
Angel explained the appeal of the bay to marine life and was very knowledgeable about whale sharks in particular.
We enjoyed having this experience in a smaller group - definitely worth the price premium. I will recommend this company and the tour to anyone visiting La Paz going forward.

We had an incredible experience with La Paz VIP Tours. We did the Sea of Cortez Wonder Tour. The guide and boat captain were excellent people and made sure our encounter with the whale sharks was a success. We received good explanations beforehand, swam safely and had fun, and they sent us excellent photos!

Amazing tour with our very knowledgable guide Ana. We got lots of information about the whalesharks and protecting the wildlife is for Ana definetely a matter of heart!
Book a small group tour, you will have much more of it! It is worth the money!

This tour was fantastic from start to finish. Ana and her staff were so informative, environmentally conscious and professional. We were able to swim with a few different whale sharks over the two hours and there were only 5 of us on the tour. I highly recommend this tour outfit.

We had an amazing time with La Paz VIP Tours. We first did the Sea of Cortez Wonders Tour and loved it so much that we booked the Combo tour a few days later. The team are brilliant - super helpful and informative. You do pay a bit extra, but it's worth every penny to have a more intimate experience with the whale sharks and also more time with the team. I would highly recommend anyone to book with La Paz VIP Tours.

VIP Tours is a superb company, and I recommend them highly for this excursion. They are professional, energetic, friendly, and above all respectful - to the guests, the environment and the wildlife. Angel works non-stop to ensure everyone has the best experience possible, with the photos to prove it. And Fernando has eyes like a hawk, with captain skills to match. My only regret is not having more cash for a tip; Angel and Fernando earned far more than we were able to give them. I suggest you pack a little extra cash just in case!
This experience is a rare and wonderful thing, and should be done if you find yourself anywhere close to La Paz (we drove over 2 hours to get there, leaving our hotel at 4:30 am. And it was absolutely worth it). If you are drivng yourself, leave extra time for the early morning traffic in La Paz. It will take you longer than you think to get there, and the trip can't wait for your arrival. Time slots in the protected area are very strict, and if you are late arriving you may literally miss the boat!

Excellent tour. All tour personnel were very helpful, accommodating, and kind. Swimming with a whale shark was an incredible experience. We also had fun swimming with sea lions. We had the beach where we lunched for ourselves and the captain and guide made sure we were comfortable and sated with our delicious lunch. On our way back to port, we were enchanted by a grey whale breaching several times. I was particularly impressed that the tour company and staff were committed to ensuring the animals were not touched or disturbed. They really seemed to care. We learned a lot and had fun with the good humored captain and guide.
