Mariana was generous with her time, her knowledge, and her cooking talents. We learned about the history of Cretan foods, sampled many things including her homemade cheese, and left with a sachet of fresh herbs epitomizing the aromas of Crete. Our experience of Crete has been greatly expanded by what she shared with us.

Mariana was an outstanding host! She is an archeological culinary historian and has such a deep understanding of the history of food. She brought us to four different shops for morning pastries (savory and sweet), a sweet phyllo dish called Bougatsa, a coffee shop for Greek coffee, and an amazing restaurant for lunch. Arrive hungry, don’t eat breakfast!
