Get to know the imperial capital, the ancient city where Alexander the Great was born and raised and where the great philosopher and tutor Aristoteles was invited to educate him. The archaeological treasures of the glorious Macedonian Kingdom of Alexander the Great and his father Phillip II, as detailed by Herodotus, invite you to a unique roadtrip to history. The excursion travels you to the ancient greek, byzantine and modern history bringing back in light the lost prestige of Aigai, the first city of the Macedonians. Discover the museum of Aigai; a World Heritage site of UNESCO, against the natural beauty of the area and the view of the Macedonian plain that travels our eye till the end of the horizon.

Good central meeting point. The bus was good although the aircon was not the best unlike the Meteora trip. You visit Pella's old ruins. Not much left but you get a feeling for large Agora, 2 large houses with mosaics & the public baths. Take hats & water, an umbrella for the sun. €8 for 2 entrances in Pella. It includes the museum there. Then you go to Vergina to see 2 more museums. These are also €8 for both entrances. So a total of €16. The ruins + 3 museums. You barely have time to buy a gyro in Vergina for lunch but that is ok. To me, the last museum where the Tombs are is the highlight of the trip. For the price, you just need to show up & stick to the times which I think were enough to see everything. Tour guide was nice, pleasant, good English but while in the places you are on your own. It is not a fully guided tour although you will see some other groups with full guides there. That is the only thing I can say that they could offer more information in each location.

not to be missed absolutely a must see, the only thing bad about our visit was the atrocious condition of the main roads worth considering a private tour because bus tour was too rushed and if you wish to eat the time is taken from the tour time

This was a truly life-enhancing experience. We were guided by the charming and very knowledgeable Lazaros, who introduced us to the ancient and very singular history of Macedonia as we first drove to Pella with its beautifully designed modern museum with astonishingly beautiful artefacts. Then to the ruins of the city with its enormous agora, or market/meeting place surrounded by merchants and workshops.
On to Vergina and a brand new (again, beautifully designed) museum containing artefacts discovered in the many burial mounds in the area.
None more astonishing than that of Philip II of Macedonia, father of Alexander the Great, and only discovered in 1977... Go! Go! And thank you, Lazaros!

Lazaros was an amazing guide, with a great sense of humor and a love for the history of the region. Strolling through the ruins of the palaces and markets where Alexander the Great spent his youth was an incredible experience. The last stop is the museum built on top of the royal tombs of Phillip II (Alexander's father) and Alexander's son was worth the price of the whole trip. It's a beautiful and unique museum with some of the most impressive artifacts I've ever seen. If you love history, this is your tour!

Too much museums.
Should go straight to the tomb. Or allocate time so that the main attraction gets
more time. Every museum is doable in 15-30 mins. 1 hour is way too much.

Lazarus was a great guide and the time at each site was generally well allocated. It would have been good to have a bit more information about the palace at Aigai, recently opened. I would have made more of an effort to walk the 1.5km to see it despite time restrictions. Otherwise a wonderful experience!

Enjoyed this trip to two amazing archeological sites. The way the artifacts are displayed is imaginative and informative. The only way it could of been improved would of been to have more time at all of the sites.
