These sister cities were frozen in time for almost 1700 years, destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD. Preserved in ash, Pompeii is a fine example of a commercial Roman city. Herculaneum is a quiet seaside town that was actually preserved in mud. Both cities will be brought to life by our guide's commentary through radio headsets, so you do not miss a bit of what life was like during the Roman Empire.

The experiences were both excellent and the lunch was Ok.
The guide we had with us all day on 18/6/24 on the coach / lunch and at Pompeii was a good guy but seemed a little inexperienced. Marched off with a small group around him, seemed oblivious to one of the party being sick and many of the party - of mixed ages and abilities- not being able to keep up with him. The second guide who joined us for Herculaneum was much more relaxed in his approach - kept the group together and made the visit very enjoyable.
Overall though a well organised and enjoyable day

Excellent guide. We broke into 2 groups at Herculaneum. Evidently the guides gave different return times to the bus. I wish they had coordinated better.

An incredible day! That tour was fantastic and Ionica was an attentive and informative tour guide. The lunch was lovely also - we would thoroughly recommend the experience.

We really enjoyed our tour of Pompeii and Herculean. The bus center was a little confusing because there weren’t very good signs to find the bus. However, once we met up with our tour guide, he was extremely knowledgeable and lead a very, very good tour. We did have an incident with a man that became ill on the tour. And he Carmine was our tour guide and he handled the situation perfectly. He did a great job and managed to get that person transported back to their hotel as they had requested. And the whole day was fascinating Carmine is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the two archaeological sites.

We really enjoyed going through and learning the history of these ancient cities. Fabiana was a fabulous guide. She was very informative and kept things interesting and answered any questions people had.
We preferred Herculaneum as it was better preserved and smaller but it was nice to seem them both in the same day and compare the two.
The lunch was ok, but it was nice to sit and relax for a bit. The restaurant was efficient and moved everything smoothly considering so many tour groups are coming in.

There was a lot of walking involved but it was worth it. Our guide was great.....friendly and knowledgable. The lunch was good. I am so glad we booked this trip and would recommend it.
I'm glad we visited both places because they were fascinating and quite different from each other. Having read Robert Harris' novel 'Pompeii' probably helped.

This tour to Pompeii and Herculaneum was excellent. Our tour guide was informative and very engaging in what we were seeing. I would highly recommend this tour if you have only one day and want to see both sights.

Wonderful tour, even with Pompeii being incredibly busy we had a lovely day. Our tour guide was very knowledgable & made the whole experience that much better.

We were amazed. POMPEII was much larger than we anticipated. We like the size of Herculaneum better and thought it was better preserved.
