Braga has its roots on the ancient Roman Empire. It's a bimillennial comercial city with strategic position serving the world's center - Rome, back in I BC. Known as Bracara Augusta in honor of the Roman Emperor Augustus, keeps its importance and legacy very present on remains and structure of the city center and surroundings.
Guimarães, by it's turn, is the cradle of nationality. It was the battleground of our independence from the kingdom of León, and the birthplace of Afonso Henriques (our first king). It is an enchanted city that maintains the original medieval structure and architectural features that earned the distinction as a cultural world heritage site by UNESCO (2001).

Ricardo was fantastic. Very personable.
We enjoyed his tour and his wit.
Just a warning, he smokes, but he did try and do it discreetly.

We can’t recommend this tour enough! Ricardo is a great tour guide and friendly host. Brags and Guimaraes are well worth visiting. We are going to book with him again when we return to Portugal — which we will!

The tour was amazing. The guide was very understanding and helpful. One of our mates got sick during the trip and we had to cut short our experience. Rather than being troubled and frustrated with us, the guide was kind and supportive, and even messaged us the next few days to enquire about the well being of our friend. Despite the unprecedented events and the terrible weather we had an unforgettable experience.

the trip was great. the gia was excellent, the views were wonderful and the history of the place is magnificent.
It's really worth it, knowing the entire history of Portugal's beginnings.

Ricardo made this trip a wonderful experience. Despite having a rainy day, he adjusted the itinerary to make the best of it. He accommodated requests with a very friendly and open attitude, and made us feel welcomed.
These two cities are not as widely known, but worth including in your visit to Portugal. Guimaraes has a very authentic medieval centre, and Braga is a beautiful city. Don’t forget to stop in Bon Jesus, it’s impressive!

Our guide Ricardo was amazing. It was just my husband and I on the tour and he was able to adapt the itinerary to our wants. He has very knowledgeable on the history of the area, had a great sense of humour and brought us to a good authentic Portuguese restaurant for lunch.
