Enjoyed the tour very much. Excellent guide, Joyah (excuse the spelling). Tasty food. Good variety. A good selection of typical Mumbai morsels. An opportunity to visit first hand several neighbourhoods and see different “faces” of Mumbai. A great way of experiencing Mumbai that we would have otherwise missed. Not to be missed.

One downside of the tour was travelling in hot non A/C taxis during the tour. The traffic jams didn’t help of course. Suggest that taxis with A/C be used?

My husband and I did the street food tour with guide Sagar (Saggy) and we were enthralled not only by the amazing variety of tasty, local dishes but by Sagar himself. He was enthusiastic, attentive, kind, funny and has a wealth of knowledge. We loved listening to all his stories and interesting facts about incredible India and her wonderful people. Sagar grew up in the slum and is raising funds to assist slum children by buying books to provide them with a better education.
The tour itself is not to be missed…starting off on Chowpatty beach and ending on the streets with delicious, hand churned ice cream made with fresh fruits. And if you do the tour, do yourself a favour and ask for Sagar!

This was my third tour of the day with Young Tours and Travel and my fabulous guide Kirtan, having earlier done a fascinating tour of the Dharavi slum and a markets tour. I ate so many wonderful things, some being Mumbai street food dishes and also food for other areas of India. It helped that Kirtan said his motto is live to eat, as is mine. I’m an adventurous eater but I would probably never have tried or even found most of things we ate. I did a private tour which combined the markets and food and lasted about 5 hours. We went to lots of different areas including the beach. Things I tried included samosas, chai masala, dosa (South Indian pancake stuffed with potatoes and spices (and I’m sure other things)) with a spicy coriander chutney, these crispy light balls stuffed with spicy chickpeas and a sweet and spicy liquid (on the beach), custard apple ice cream, the most amazing chicken tikka tandoori, more ice cream and finished it off with pav bhaji and I may have even missed a couple of dishes. If you want to get a real taste of different Indian dishes this is a tour that is definitely worth doing. Thanks Kirtan for showing me another great side to Mumbai.
