When they say “Skip the Line,” they mean it! Our tour guide, Pam, was excellent. She clearly explained all the elements of the Colosseum and provided cultural context that offered deeper understanding of Roman culture. Her storytelling made everything come to life! We were able to see the big picture of how the city of Rome evolved over the centuries. This was our first tour in the city and it really set us up for the rest of visit. Kudos Pam and LivTours!

We were so happy we paid the extra money for the small group tour. Rosaria was amazing and she taught us so much, as well as asked us questions to connect more with us. The small group setting helped with beating the heat and navigating away from some of the larger crowds. It felt more like a friend showing us around, instead of a tour guide.

Our private Colosseum tour was an absolute highlight of our Roman adventure! Having a knowledgeable archaeologist as our guide was a game-changer. His passion for Roman history was contagious, bringing the Colosseum's stories to life in a way that captivated everyone in our group, from our teenagers to our younger child.
The tour was expertly designed to be interesting and informative for all ages. Our guide, Ribal, expertly wove together historical details with fascinating anecdotes, keeping everyone engaged.
A special shoutout to our amazing guide, Ribal! When our daughter felt a bit faint, Ribal’s attentiveness truly shone through. He offered her a snack and thoughtfully adjusted the tour pace to accommodate her needs. We couldn't have asked for a more understanding and accommodating guide.
This personalized approach made our Colosseum experience truly unforgettable. LivTours did an exceptional job, and Ribal’s expertise and care made it even more special. We can't recommend them highly enough!

Our tour was fantastic. Due to cancellations it ended up being a private tour with just my husband and I. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke clear English.

Our group of three had two very good tours with LivTours while in Rome, one private to the Vatican and one in a small group (seven people total) to the Colosseum and Forum. If you are considering whether to do the private tour or the small group tour, the small group tour is likely just as effective for a quite reduced price.

The tour meets up just outside of the bottom level of the Colosseum Metro station. A lot of tours from other companies meet in the vicinity, but the good thing is that their guides will ask if you have a tour guide, you tell them LivTours, and they tell you yes go stand over there next to the wall under the Metro sign. Our tour guide, Laura, arrived a couple of minutes prior to the start of the hour and the tour started.

It can be confusing to pick the right tour. Some of them go up to the top level of the Colosseum for a higher-above view. Others go down to the catacombs. Others get to go into the arena floor. None it seems do them all together. IMO, it doesn't matter. Whichever tour flavor you pick will get you a close-up of the Colosseum and as long as it includes the Forum and Palatine Hill you will see most if not all of what there is to see. Just be ready for huge crowds, some difficulty in hearing your guide (even with a very small, compact group), and, if you go in the Summer, hotter temperatures (March was in the mid 80's for us).

As for the tour itself, Laura was very informative, quick on the humor (meaning light hearted and funny but not obtrusive with it), and showed the experience level needed to navigate the crowds and get you to the better spots for pictures and views. All questions answered, and we left the tour at its conclusion feeling both content and perhaps, maybe, just a bit smarter.
