Ayutthaya, just an hour away from Bangkok, is a remarkable showcase of ancient temples and a testament to its history as the long-standing capital of Siam. The city is dotted with numerous temples, with almost every crossroad revealing ruins that hint at its past glory as a golden capital. During our half-day tour, our guide shared the city's history, including its destruction in wars with neighboring countries. These temples, once adorned with 25-carat gold, still reflect the majesty of those times despite what time has taken away. The remaining structures are a breathtaking sight. For anyone visiting Bangkok, a trip to Ayutthaya is essential to witness these awe-inspiring historical wonders.
