Spend an unforgettable day exploring Pisa and the enchanting Cinque Terre region on this must-do tour from Florence, with train transport included. Get up close to Pisa’s premier sights including the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Duomo. Then, fall in love with the iconic architecture of the UNESCO-listed Cinque Terre villages. Enjoy a picture-perfect snapshot of old-world Italy as you traverse Riomaggiore’s winding streets, tuck into local produce on Via dell’Amore, marvel at Manarola’s pretty houses, and relax on Vernazza’s charming beaches.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We will meet at the main entrance of the pharmacy inside Santa Maria Novella train station at 7:30am. Look up for our Tour Leader, easily recognizable by their purple T-shirt. After a brief introduction about the day you will board on a train to Pisa. If you are running late and unfortunately miss the group, don't worry take the first train independently to Pisa and meet the group there. On the train have a little nap or enjoy your scenic ride out of the city, arriving in Pisa approximately 1h30m later.

Upon arrival, follow your tour leader to the Field of Dreams (Piazza dei Miracoli), a verdant expanse home to the city’s most important sights: the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Baptistery and the Duomo. Here you will be completely free to visit the main sights independently for 1h30mins

During your free time you can pose for photos by the Leaning Tower and, depending on availability, head inside for a guided tour (own expense). Alternatively, make for the Duomo (own expense) to marvel at its carved pulpit by Giovanni Pisano, or head inside the Baptistery (own expense) to test the unusual acoustics or sit in a local bar for a coffee. If you wish to book in advance your tickets to the Leaning Tower, we recommend the 10:00am entrance.

Meet back with the rest of the group and your tour leader and take a 1h train to La Spezia, the gateway to the famous Cinque Terre, a string of five picturesque villages along the rugged coastline. Once at the train station in La Spezia you will have some time to grab some food in one of the local stores or pop down to the toilet before you board again on a local regional train to reach the National Park of Cinque Terre.

Reach Riomaggiore from La Spezia with a 10 mins train ride. Here you will have 1 hour. Wonder at the tightly packed pastel buildings as you stroll along the cobbled streets with your guide. Learn from your local guide that centuries ago in Riomaggiore, the tall, colorful houses were built in rows with alleys, arches, and steps for defense against pirates and that each house till today has two entrances, one at the front and one at the back on the higher road, for easy escape during attacks.

Continue by train to Vernazza, a seaside town that surrounds a tiny, natural port. Alight your train, then enjoy 1 hour free time to soak up the sun on the pretty beach, or dive into the cooling waters for a swim.

Your final stop is Manarola renowned for its breathtaking coastal scenery. The village is perched on a rugged cliff overlooking the Ligurian Sea, with colorful houses cascading down to the harbor. This picturesque setting makes Manarola one of the most photographed locations in Italy. Here you will have 1 hour . Wander along the harbor and spend a few minutes snapping photos of the picturesque buildings that cascade toward the sea.
8.
From Manarola we will take our local train back to La Spezia or Pisa aboard the train for the return trip to Florence, where your tour concludes. -------------------- ITINERARY -------------------- Please note: Via dell’Amore is closed to the public due to landslide damage.

• Please keep in mind that trains to Cinque Terre are regional trains. This means that no seats are assigned nor guaranteed. In high season ( June, July & August ) due to the popularity of the villages, the trains could be very crowed and hot, be prepared. In these months we will visit two villages instead of 3 to allow everyone to relax longer in the villages visited and take a swim
• This tour is not suitable for people with walking disabilties and to those sensitive to the heat
• In summer it is recommended to bring hat, sun cream, bottle of water and swimming suit
• In winter it is recommended to bring a rain jacket in the event of bad weather
• The tour is in English only
• Minimum age allowed on the tour is 18 years - no kids
• In the event of a national train strike or train delays, the tour operator is not responsible of the disservice of the trains. In the event of national train strikes the tour could be cancelled
• We recommend you not to make any travel arrangements for when we return to Florence in the event of any train delays.
• The tour operator recommends not to bring valuable objects on the tour due to possible thieves often present on trains. The tour operator is not responsible for any items lost or stolen on the trains.

We had a great time with amazing views and a very informative tour from Marie. Despite train problems that day she got us to all the places we wanted to visit and was an amazing tour guide. Our group was also lovely and we had a very fun time!

It was a tough day for our tour guide, Marie. There were several cancelled trains and in Pisa people were blocking the tracks but she managed to keep our group of 10 together and we were able to tour all the intended places in both Pisa and Cinque Terra. In addition I was having a tough time keeping up with the group but she made sure to give me and my husband a few alternatives to ensure we circled back with everyone and we were able to go at our own pace. I was very close to canceling last minute but I am so glad I did not. If you book this tour I believe you’ll enjoy it.

Very much worth the price. There were some train delays and changes that disrupted the start of the tour but our guide Marie did such a wonderful job of guiding us and keeping the day moving. She really did a wonderful job. Thank you!

Dolcevita of Italy our tour guide and Nelly was very knowledgeable of where to take the best photos and where we would meet precisely at meeting points. We never felt any anxiety relax trip even with all the train stops and crowds this time of year

Lot of ground to cover in one day , but the trip is perfectly timed, and according to my opinion, you spend just the right amount of time in each location. My tour leader was Antonello, and he was very kind, caring , and fun to get along with. Another charm of booking with this company is that its not like those excursions which have 100s of people in one bus and it feels like a chore. They organize small groups to make it a memorable and intimate experience.
