This was an excellent personal experience for myself and family. Brian, our tour guide, was both pleasant and knowledgeable. We enjoyed having him for the day. Would recommend experiencing this personal tour.

We had to book our day tour last minute due to a mixup on another tour that was a larger group tour. After having done a private tour in Ireland, we were actually glad the large group tour was cancelled and we were able to book with Aura Journeys. The other tour was to include Loch Ness and the Highlands, which would have been a 12-hour tour.

The private tour with Aura for my husband, me and our two friends afforded us a completely customized experience with our driver Brian. He picked us up from our hotel in Edinburgh at 9 am and explained that some of the planned stops were closed or already booked at capacity, which didn’t phase us one bit. We just wanted to see as much of Scotland and the Highlands and really had no specific requests. Brian gave us an exceptional experience! He had the Mercedes van stocked with water, snacks and the infamous Iron Cru drinks! We saw Newton Viewpoint, the Kelpies, Shetland ponies, cows (which we got to pet and feed!), Doune Castle, multiple cathedrals, Roman Camp Hotel for lunch with the most beautiful garden and grounds, a waterfall outside Aberfoyle, and the William Wallace memorial in less than 12 hours.

If you are thinking about booking with Aura, BOOK IT! Cannot recommend them enough and be sure to ask for Brian as your driver if he’s available. Not only did he give us a heck of a day, he was so friendly and personable and wonderful to spend the day with!

We had the best time seeing more of the Scottish countryside with William as our guide! Even before our arrival, he was super responsive via email, making sure that he knew what we were hoping to do and see. William had lots of great stories and information to share, and we loved seeing Loch Katrine and doing a tasting a Deanston Distillery. We’d definitely recommend booking with Aura Journeys if you’re wanting to see a bit more of Scotland outside of Edinburgh!

Great day with William! We were on a short schedule due to unforeseen problems getting our Covid tests for travel the next day…he even found the shipping warehouse to pick them up (definitely could not have found it on our own and not part of the tour!). And we got to see all the sites we’d picked before that. Thank you!

Where to start? After a year of planning our itinerary with Nick of Aura Journeys, we put it into play with 8 days of touring with William. William is professional, but he knows how to have fun with you after he sizes you up. His humor was like spending a week with your best friend from college. Subtle, but pointed, we traded barbs and laughed away the week. No worries about spending a week with a stranger when your guide is William! His knowledge of the area was deep but if he didn't have an answer to your question, he'd look it up and have it for you quickly. He soon got to know what we liked and what we didn't, from meal times and toilet stops, to type of food and sightseeing preferences. We had daily itineraries but we would often adjust based on our own energy level or suggestions from William. Nothing was ever a problem for William. We went to several places William had never been to and he thanked US for taking him there. We ended as good friends and hated to leave him at the end of our journey.

Highlights:
* Always arrived early with a clean van and lots of water
* Very safe driver
* Served as photographer when asked - we finally have trip pictures with both of us
* Flexible and accommodating
* Knowledgeable - great suggestions for restaurants, activities, places to visit and places to skip
* He did all the work and let us be tourists rather than trying to drive and read guidebooks while we flew past sights. Worth every penny on this 50th wedding anniversary trip

Our recent private tour of the Scottish Highlands was exceptional. Our driver Murray McKenzie was extremely accommodating and friendly. He not only made an on the fly suggestion to visit Sterling Castle versus the more touristy Edinburgh Castle, but he even drove us to a local supermarket to let us get food for later in the evening after dropping us off, even when it extended his own long day. Murray was very knowledgeable about the various sights in our tour and made suggestions for future locations to visit. I would highly recommend him to anyone wishing to tour anywhere in Scotland.

5 of us enjoyed a wonderful day with a wonder chauffeur - William. What a gentleman! William is very knowledgeable about the area and we were able to modify our route to meet our individual needs. William even did some impromptu modifications so my wife could see the Outlander sites. The scenery was wonderful. William made the experience a memorable one. Book the trip with no regrets. William will take care of you guaranteed!
