This was an expensive tour. Pros: you save time by not going in a big bus tour with 100 people. Our guide was knowledgeable (and a bit homophobic in describing the king). Driving back was stressful, driver kept yelling and cursing at the traffic.

The trip was excellent ! Sigmund our guide was funny and informative and very help full. We stayed outside the castle for the amazing scenery but we went inside the Lindorf mansion to view the gold rooms. Lunch was excellent on the shores of the lake and we finished off with picturesque Bavarian villages and monastery.

Without over exaggerating at all, look know further! If you want to discover Bavaria without the hassle and confusion, talk with Mike’s Bike tours. I recommend the private tour, Alex was our guide and as much as don’t want to inflate his ego, he was amazing. Fun, understanding, helpful, and he kept our family of 8 moving along and accommodating all the individual expectations. We went on another group tour a week ago and it was almost a complete waste… don’t waste your time or money anywhere else. Go directly to their website and book whatever you want. If you don’t see it, just ask, they can make it happen. If you can, stick to a private tour as it will allow them to really take care of you.

Cheers! And thank you Siegmund for setting it up and thanks Alex for the great day!

Our driver, Alex, made this an excellent tour. He shared his knowledge of Mad King Ludwig, Munich and Bavaria throughout the trip with humor and expertise, which even maintained the attention of our teenagers. It was great to have a trip tailored to our interests and timing that you can’t always get with the bigger groups. I highly recommend it!

We had an amazing tour to Neuschwanstein, Linderhoff, beautiful Planesee lake (where lunch was yummy with lots of options), Oberammergau and the Augustine abbey. The locations and the day were perfect. But, what made the day the best was Alex. He shared so much great history and information about the locations we were visiting, Mad King Ludwig, and beyond. He also tailored the visit to our needs, including a side trip to a pharmacy for one of us. I couldn’t recommend traveling from Munich to Bavaria and seeing these sights in this manner enough! What a great day trip.

Our guide Sigman was really great. He showed us all of the interesting sites accompanied us on many of them or waited for us outside the castle and they also let us change our game plan a little bit when we’re running out of time so again our guide was just terrific..

Alex picked us up at our hotel and drove us past the Octoberfest grounds on the way out of Munich. As we drove toward the Neuschwanstein Castle Alex provided the history about King Ludwig II. He also spoke of each village we drove through and included details like why the cedar logs were so perfectly cut and stacked. Alex gave us sufficient time to explore the castle, palace and abbey. He took us to the restaurant at Hotel Forelle on Plansee where we ate fresh-caught fish while overlooking the lake. We visited Oberammergau and Garmisch and were back at our hotel in Munich that evening. Alex recommended L'Osteria for dinner. Their 45cm pizza was wonderful! It was a pleasure to spend the day with Alex.

Alex was awesome! Arrived early so that we could make the Castle Tour early. He is so knowledgeable of the country and gave lots of information in our drive. Lunch was unbelievably good…much try the goulash soup! The view from the lake is beautiful! Loved Linderhof castle even more than the Disney Castle. The village visit to pick up our cuckoo clock was the icing on the cake! Thank you Alex for an awesome tour! Highly recommended for families and people who want to do and see a lot in one day!
