By the time we left our resort and got back it was over 10 hours. Long bus ride on crazy busy roads, braking, turning. That ride was over an hour. The catamaran ride was almost an hour, then walking through dark caves, another long catamaran ride to Cayo Leventado where you walk to a hut for lunch, $9 drinks and sit at a beach for 3 hours where you are inundated with people trying to sell you massages, t- shirts, shells, cigars, drinks, food. Jelly fish in the water and on the beach. Should have stayed at our own resort beach.
Another long ride back on catamaran and bus.
The worst thing is the guide talks the whole bus ride and tour of caves which would be informative but he first does everything in Spanish, then French, then English.
The washrooms at the places we stopped were disgusting. Toilets but no water to flush them, so basically outhouses. Overall, we felt we wasted an entire day of our vacation and night as well because we were ill after it was all over, for $100 US each

The views were amazing, we never waited so long for a trip. We had a great time. I advise those who go on their own and with their family to take a guide to discover deserted beaches and non-touristy places. We would like to return one day!!!

We hired our tour through the company Otium through the tour operator Moto Marina Tours. Leaving the hotel, take an hour's trip to the port of Santa Bárbara de Samaná where we board a speed boat to sail 45 minutes to the park. Very beautiful, skirting the cliffs, navigate between outcrops of stones and vegetation and the coast, stopping at two caves (some with pictorial paintings) and then half an hour to Cayo Levantado. The place is a paradise although the public beach is small and all the excursions end there so it is usually quite crowded. There is a small food stall (it is included in all tours and is abundant and very tasty). Due to the nature of the tours, there is very little time to explore the key, although from what you can see the natural features (hills and jungle that reach the water) make it quite difficult to walk around the area, and the Bahía Príncipe hotel is located on the port. which takes up a large part of the space and cannot be accessed unless you are staying there. My recommendation is to look for a taxi from Samaná to the key and go directly to enjoy the beach and the surroundings without time pressure, the food is very delicious in the place, there is a bar with good drinks, beaches and reefs to enjoy.

Great guide (forgot his name but he was an energetic, wonderful older gentleman), beautiful sights, delicious lunch. Overall a great day, I have no complaints.
