Vestibule or the hall of Diocletian's apartments served as an integral part of the ceremonial access to the Emperor.

The cathedral in Split is accommodated in the former mausoleum of the emperor Diocletian, a monumental building from the 4th century. Built of massive stone blocks, the 24 m high mausoleum dominates teh central area if the palace.

A ceremonial entrance court, framed on both sides by monumental arcades and oriented towards the imperial loggia. Admire the stunning colonnaded square, one of the most beautiful ones on the Mediterranean.

Where do locals buy their fruit and vegetables? The best cheese and prosciutto? It is at this lively market that you experience a true local life.

Golden Gate, i.e. the northern gate is, the most prominent of all four gates of the palace. A little church of St. Martin was built into the very gate in the 5th century.

The statue is the work of one of the most famous Croatian sculptors -Ivan Mestrovic. The bronze statue depicts Grgur Ninski, the bishop from the beginning of the 10th century. Rub its toe for good luck!

One of the most picturesque squares just outside the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian. Learn about Marko Marulić, the father of Croatian literature whose statue is in the middle of the square.

Prokurative or as it is officially called, Republic Square resembles the Venice St. Marks Square. The square is located west of the Riva and was named after the arches found on the neo-Renaissance buildings surrounding the square on three sides. Most people to this day know it by that name. The square is only open on the south side, providing a beautiful view of the harbour and the Riva (waterfront).

Considered the most beautiful promenade in Croatia, it is a meeting point of both locals and our visitors. Here we start and end our tour.

Our guide Vinka was very knowledgeable and super friendly. Had a great time touring the city. She even told us about the Game of Thrones sites despite not having seen the show herself.

We were also curious about the 90s war and she was very willing to talk to us about it. It was good to hear a personal view of the war beyond all the news stories and documentaries.

This was one of the best tours we have taken. Jelena, the company operator was in contact with us as soon as we booked. She was very communicative, making everything smooth and easy. Our guide, Viceicija (Victoria) was amazing! She was kind and very knowledgeable about the history of Split. Viceicija gave us a map and marked the places we wanted to go or revisit. She went above and beyond to make us comfortable and have everything we needed. I highly recommend this tour. Will definitely rebook when we return to Croatia.

I can not recommend this travel group enough! Jelena loves her country and shares so many details. It was fascinating and so personalized to learn from her. Jelena was amazing! She was very responsive and couldn't have been more helpful for our tour in Split. What is unique about her is that she was born and raised in the area, so is very familiar with everything. Every shop owner and restaurant waiter seemed to know her and always had kind words to say as our group walked by. It is her own company, so you are not getting a run of the mill tour guide. You would be getting a born-and-bred local who owns her own business. She gave us a terrific tour of Diocletian's Palace and the surrounding area.

However, her company also helps with planning travel and tours to all parts of Croatia and Slovenia. Near the end of the tour, I casually asked if she had any suggestions on how to get our group of 6 up to Krka National Park. She immediately contacted a number of drivers and was able to arrange everything in a heartbeat. We had a driver round trip (Ana) who was terrific and very accommodating even with a small side trip. We also had another guide (Silvana) for the park itself. While trying to find the driver the morning of our tour, Jelena called me twice in 3 minutes herself on a Sunday morning to make sure we had connected with the driver. Her promptness, attention to detail and accessibility was first class and very professional.

Lastly, we were headed to the island of Hvar the next day and I asked for any further recommendations. Again, she came through with all kinds of suggestions that had a very positive impact on our trip.

Though you may find her agency advertised through Trip Advisor or Get Your Guide, her company is truly unique. It is small but extremely well run and will provide you with a personalized experience where no detail is ignored. I cannot recommend her services enough!
