Most people know a theme park inspired by one famous mouse. But one dedicated to monkeys? At Monkeyland, a natural habitat located deep in the Dominican Republic’s jungle and home to squirrel monkeys. On this 5.5-hour guided tour where you'll also explore the habitat's on-site botanical garden, as well as a coffee and cacao plantation. Chat it up with local farmers, learn about their organic methods and taste tropical fruit just plucked from a tree. Hotel transport from Punta Cana and Bavaro is included.

This was excellent! We did morning session and started off with a 7am shuttle pick up from our Cap Cana hotel and transferred to a group shuttle with other travelers from different parts of DR to site. Shuttle driver Wilbur was hilarious, entertaining and very hospitable. Tipped him after he brought us to our hotel.
Since there were a lot of people at Monkeyland, we did the coffee and cocoa demonstrations first before seeing the monkeys (usually people see monkeys first) We went to a similar one the day before that was decent, but this booking’s demonstration was more entertaining and informative. There’s an opportunity to purchase cocoa coffee and other products and gifts after the demo so bring cash or card- we weren’t planning on buying anything but thankfully had enough cash to bring a few things home.
There are lockers where you can put your stuff and they’ll sell you a lock for $5 that you can keep. They are very strict with what you can do or bring when you see the monkeys as they said one monkey died last week due to a tourist neglecting to follow their instructions so just be attentive to their presentation- they will call you out if you’re on your phone during presentation.
When we finally got into the monkey area it was great and everyone had a nice time. Our guides were really friendly and we gave our main one a couple bucks at the end for friendly and excellent service. I’d recommend having maybe only one person in your group take pics or video or switch off so that everyone has a chance to enjoy the experience. There is also a photographer that goes around a few times to you and your family to take pics which they’ll sell you at the end of the experience - we bought a print of one pic as the ones they took didn’t all come out that great, but you can also purchase the entire set of pics they took of your family. We had a lot of good pics just one our phones too.
After tour, you can go to gift shop - decent selection and a bit pricey but great for kids stuff. At the every end they have a group shuttle you back to your hotel. Overall excellent experience, very organized, and we had so much fun. Appreciated we got back to hotel around 2pm so we could rest/pool.

Pick up was right on time and employees on bus very knowledgeable and nice. You had plenty of time with the monkeys not rushed at all. They took pictures but also gave you plenty of time to take your own. If you bought theirs reasonably priced. Plantation history was interesting nice to learn about the area.

Great experience, the host Gregory was very insightful. However, the travel time is very long and in addition, they make a stop at a gas station for approx. 30 minutes which they don’t include in the description.
The water is also only provided at the very end of the trip which after hours on a bus should be offered at least beforehand.

Did the monkey excursion along with buggies and a tour of how they make cocoa / coffee/ cigars. Both times we went we had PJ as our tour guide. He has such an awesome and fun personality . He's great with the kids and makes you laugh. I highly recommend this excursion. Lots to see and learn about this culture.

Passeio muito bacana, passamos pela historia local do Cacau/Chocolate, Café e outras coisas típicas. O transporte é bom. Os Guia Franklin e o instrutor de macacos Ares foram excelentes. A interação com macacos durou entre 30-60min, com varias rodadas de comidinhas.

This was a fun experience! The Monkeys were so cute, small, and gentle. They only like to eat fruits and sunflower seeds… I mean who really likes to eat their greens anyway? Lol We loved Angel and Francisco! They were amazing as well!
