We did the Viva Safari excursion with Jonathan, a wonderful person. It took us out of the journey and made us discover a whole other world. How people live in the countryside, the history of the Dominican Republic, and all the beautiful plants they grow and their benefits in daily life. Jonathan is really good because we were 3 groups between Italians, Germans and French and he managed to explain to everyone in the own language.
Very, very polite, kind and good.
I absolutely recommend this excursion and I recommend it with Jonathan.

We will keep excellent memories of this excursion. Very happy to have been able to discover the interior of the Dominican Republic as a family.
Our guide Denise spoke very well in French and was very friendly with the whole family, young and old alike. She taught us a lot of things.
Duarte, our driver was also great.
A day that will remain engraved in our vacation memories

Let me begin by saying that despite coming to DR for many years and having experienced many tours and excursions like swimming with dolphins, trip to Saona and El Limón this was one of my favorite tours so far. Don't get me wrong they have all been great and so have all the drivers and guides we've met along the way but this one was special as I got learn a few things. First let me say that we left from Dreams Dominicus in La Romana. Our driver MANUEL and guide DENISE were the best. We got there safe and on time and the trip was fun and informative. It included a trip to the sugarcane field in Batey, then to the beautiful Basilica in Higuey, learned all about tobacco and how it is made, then to the Anamuya River for a quick swim, lunch at Doña Maria' house (food was amazing!) and lastly we got a very nice tour around her garden and learned all about coffee and cocoa making, again thanks to DENISE's expertise. I would highly recommend this tour, just be prepared to ride in a safari truck which gets bumpy. Also pack light, wear comfy shoes and sunscreen. A backpack with a few thing including bug spray is a must.

We just finished a wonderful week at the Bahia Principe Ambar for our wedding anniversary. The Ambar (adults only) is part of a larger complex at Bahia Principe. The staff was very friendly and the accommodations were just great. The only little hiccup we had was that when we arrived they had placed us in a room with two double beds, despite us asking for a room with a king sized bed. However, the next day they moved us to the requested room type. There are wonderful restaurants to choose from. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Went on this tour December 29, 2018.

What we did was well done, unfortunately did not match up with the overview on Viator.

One of the main things we wanted to do was the horseback riding. Well.....there were no horses to be rode. We pet a couple but they were not for riding.

We did not stop at a local school as the kids were off on Christmas vacation.

We did get to swim in a river which allowed us to swim under a waterfall which was pretty cool.

Our pick up point was dreams la romana resort and spa at 8.30am. our first stop was a driveway off the main road so our driver could run across the road and chop down a piece of sugar can which was then handed out for a tasting. Then out came the tote full of hats, bags and tshirts for sale!! SELL SELL SELL.

Back on the truck to our next destination which was horse back riding. Advertisement says take a short horseback ride through the mountains to a small village. NOT. We arrived and got saddled up...we were told it would be a 20 minute ride, 10 minutes later and a ride around the perimeter of a muddy field, off the horse and directed to a hut where they were selling product. SELL SELL SELL

Back on the truck to typical home and again SELL SELL SELL local product.

Back on the truck we were taken for lunch to top of mountain....Bathrooms were disgusting, toilets didn't flush and were backed up.
Next stop cigar making, literally one guy sat a table rolling a cigar....SELL SELL SELL.

Next stop, the Basilica which our guide had to be bullied into stopping at, we were told that we could not go in because company no longer paid the admission? Is it not a church?, some people from the truck went in anyways with a small donation. We did not stop at a local school our guide told us that we couldn't stop but we drove by it!

Last stop was a free cocktail at bayahibe beach...stay as long as you want as long as you are buying their booze! SELL SELL SELL

We were offered rum and sprite once, but were ran out because there was a 2 bottle limit for a truck full of 16 people. water had to be asked for and we didn't see any beer. Save your money, do not go on this excursion, they should be paying the $85 pp for YOU to go on the trip so they can sell you something! Antonio was our guide and raul our driver...Antonio was pushy and even handed out his his own AMWAY business cards. Very disappointing
