When you enter the cathedral you will feel a calmness come over you. Seeing the interior for the first time is a real experience. It is so quiet, relaxing, and overpowering and yet it has such a reverent feeling. Make sure to look up toward the heavens and notice the vaulted ceiling made to look like palm branches representing the original roof of the first church. There are many different chapels inside the large structure. The stained glass is magnificent.

The monument is both a mausoleum and a museum showcasing objects including a boat from Cuba and Colombian jewelry. Constructed of concrete, the monument is 680 feet (210 m) long.[3] Its architecture is cross-shaped and represents the Christianization of the Americas.

What a beautiful city. Darius was amazing, and he is so funny! The museums were gorgeous, and full of so much cool stuff with great stories behind them.

Nacho and Rene were terrific tour guides. Nacho kept us laughing and was accommodating to our group with many different native languages. The city is unique and we appreciated learning about the history and culture. Well done!

The tour was very informative. Our tour guide Santiago was very knowledgeable and friendly. He is also sensitive to the needs of everyone like bathrooms and staff. Even our bus driver was good. The bus was clean and it had a good AC! They gave us free water since it was so hot. The restaurant where they took us had good buffet food fresh and tasty. They even had 2 performers who danced their traditional dance and engaged the tourists (those done eating) to dance as well.

I was sold a premium service however, from the start to the end the experience was the worst I have ever had so far in all my previous trips. They picked us up late the took us to a pick up point to change bus. The buses are very outdated for a “premium” service, the tour guide mis counted the passengers and left my husband and I stranded in a gas station the used for bathrooms. I had to call the company so they could send them back. And the whole tour in the capital was not worth the money and time spent. I would never do it again

Darius knows his stuff! We learned a lot, had amazing food, got to try Mamajuana the national drink and had fun shopping in a gift store that was filled with interesting stuff, not just typical tourist junk. I got beautiful larimar ( national stone, only found here) gifts for my girls. And be on the lookout for the very rare blue amber jewelry. Also only found here. A wonderful day!!
