We had a great day touring Peneda-Geres with Bruno. He picked us up directly from our guesthouse and took us on an almost 9 hour tour. You couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable guide. Bruno is an expert on the history, geography, nature, and the people of the region. He explained how the locals have lived in the region for centuries, shepherding their flocks, watering their land from mountain canals, and now conserving nature.
We made many stops with hikes along the way. Highlights included an ancient Roman bridge, an ingenious trap for funneling wolves, several waterfalls, and a vantage over much of the park.
There's no way visitors traveling independently could hope to see and learn as much as Bruno showed us. Excellent value.
The restaurant you stop in for lunch is a bit pricey, so travelers on a budget might want to choose the picnic lunch option.

We met Bruno for a visit to the Geres natural park.
We spent extraordinary moments in silence, immersed in nature, among the less traveled paths that only the local inhabitants know about.
We also learned about the culture and life of those who are there every day.
Bruno was punctual, attentive to our every request and respectful of our times and needs.
A truly pleasant climate of knowledge and sharing was created in which telling stories became enriching.

I have never enjoyed a tour as much as I enjoyed this tour. Ricardo was amazing as a tour guide. He took us all over the park. He had us hiking in beautiful places. He took us to the cathedrals in Sao Bento, which were gorgeous. And he had us laughing and enjoying ourselves the entire day. He was a tremendous amount of fun and has a wonderful sense of humor.
We got very lucky in that there usually are more proof on the tour, but we were the only two. So we had a private tour.
One caveat... one part of the description says lunch included, one says lunch is excluded. That needs to be corrected.

A great day exploring Geres national park with our guide Ricardo. Beautiful scenery, mountains and waterfalls. Enjoyed some short scenic walks and wading in the lake.

Beautiful views of the Park with an amazing swim at a waterfall. Ricardo was a great guide and very knowledgeable. My kids (22,20 and 17) loved the hike and the tour of the park ended up being one of their favorite things.

Great local guide with knowledge of the area, culture, and history. It is a great way to see something other than a big city. Geres Park is near both Portugal and Spain's border, so the area has a lot of history and beauty.

Our family had the great pleasure of experiencing the beauty and history of Geres with Ricardo. He was a very caring and warm person and we enjoyed his company very much.
Our lunch was at a quaint restaurant and was delicious. Especially the delicious liquor made by the owners. Yum!

This was a highlight of our trip to Portugal. Bruno, our guide and driver, was interesting, passionate, knowledgeable, safe, and fun. He showed us great highlights of the park, took us to a local restaurant for an incredible lunch, introduced us to an almost empty swimming lagoon, and shared his infectious passion for this beautiful national park. I highly recommend taking this tour.
