Fun and unique cooking experience! Joana is a gem, a very friendly, funny and welcoming host. She made the whole process very easy and we even left with some great baking tips.

Her home is lovely and very cosy which made the experience even better. It’s also very accessible from the city center.

I would recommend it to anyone!

An amazing first taste of this famous Portuguese pastry. Our teacher, Joanna, shared her passion and skills using a “hands on” approach. She divided the work well so that everyone in the group was participating and learning.

We had a great time learning the history and making the Natas! A fun experience and tasting them fresh out of the oven after having made them yourselves was amazing. We will be making these at home!

Joana's cooking class was terrific. There were 11 in the class and all participated. Joana was super-organized and made learning fun. Lots of good tips on baking the Portuguese national treat, pastel de nata. Joana's communication skills and her English were excellent. The natas that we created were delicious. We immediately went to the cooking supply store in Porto City Centre to buy nata tins. Joana also gave us some great restaurant suggestions, as well. Can't wait to try her Grandma's recipe when we return home. We were there for a little over 2 hours, but the time flew by so quick. The Uber ride from City Centre as less that 8 Euros.

We had a very good, hands-on cookery lesson in Joana's apartment (second floor). It is a short taxi ride from the centre of Porto and well worth it. We also got to learn the history of these tarts.

My boyfriend and I wanted to start a new tradition : take cooking class when travelling to get the local experience at its fullest. We started this tradition with Joanna's cooking class to learn how to make Pasteis de Nata. And what a way to start the tradition! We had the best time and learn so much not only about Pasteis de nata but also about pastry! She would explain so softly and kindly the steps to follow and why to follow them this way and in this order. It made so much sense and I feel like it gave everyone a lot of confidence about themselves being able to bake.
We highly recommend if you are looking 1) for a different travelling experience in Porto and 2) if you want to eat the best pastel de nada in town ;).
