Overall the trip was wonderful, a must do in Porto. The views from the boat were incredible, the lunch was delicious, even the bus ride to the start of the boat trip was fascinating. The whole experience was delightful. A couple of things to improve:
The upper deck could do with a bit of shade, we had to go down into the dining area (where the view wasn’t as good) to get out of the sun.
The meeting point was not clear (it’s actually inside the Sao Bento station, under the clock). The station is beautiful and worth a visit anyway!

Overall- nice slow cruise with great scenery. We had perfect weather- sunny and not too hot. But I could see how this would be bad with any other kind of weather. Nothing much to do except watch the scenery as it goes by. Would have been nice to have comfortable lounge type chairs with umbrellas, instead of plastic ones. Lunch was ok.

This was an amazing tour with our guide Ana Alves. We lucked out with small group of 4, and were picked up at hotel in a nice, comfortable van. The Duoro Valley was beautiful, wine tasting at Val Moreira with lunch amazing. Ana was full of information about the history of winemaking. We had an extra surprise stop in route. The boat ride was lots of fun. This was well worth the expense.

The day started with a meeting at Sao Bento train station at 7:45. We arrived early to make sure we were at correct place. Unfortunately the tour company representative arrived 20 minutes late.-this was the only negative part of the day.
After some anxiety and several minutes lining up to check in. we were able to walk to a bus and boarded for our ride to Regua. The bus ride took us through the urban part of a busy Porto morning traffic, and left this area to see the many mountaineous areas on our drive to Regua. As we got closer to Regua, we started to see the many vineyards. Much of grapes are grown on side hills. Many are so steep that the land needs to be prepared in terrace levels.
Our arrival in Regua had us park along the Douro River approximately 90 minutes after leaving Porto.
We had a short walk to board our waiting ship to take us the remainder of our tour on the Douro River throught the Douro Valley.
The ship had 3 levels open to the tour group. Top area had seating both inside and out doors to sit and view all the sites on 6 hours on the river. The second level down was an area that would be set for our lunch and also available to sit after lunch for viewing on our cruise. When we arrived, we were assigned a table on this deck that was reserved for our lunch and for sitting throughout the cruise. The lower level had washrooms for the cruise passengers.
The cruise on the Douro river is incredibly scenic. Lots to see and take photos.
Many of the vineyards that are situated on the Douro River go from the top of the hills down to close the river edge. Some have elaborate terraces that are wonderful to see, especially if you have not experienced this before. Many have other crops mixed in like olive trees growing making these scenes very picturesque.
Lunch on board was very flavorful. The amount of food served family style on our table was more than we could eat. This was also accompanied by a cold water carafe, a litre of orange juice, and a bottle of wine for the two of us.
The cruise is capped off with the ship cruising into the City of Porto. Many companies offer City river cruise featuring the 6 bridges. Our entry in to Porto includes 5 of those bridges.
It ends cruising under the Ponte Luis and docking at Porto Ribeira in front of the Praca Da Ribeira.
We recommend that you consider doing this trip when you visit the area.
