Join your host Putu in her kitchen for a private, hands-on cooking class. Unlike many other TripAdvisor tours, this is a private experience. You and your host will prepare 2-3 authentic Balinese dishes. As you chop, grind and grill, Putu will teach you about the spices she uses in her family recipes as well as the medicinal qualities of Balinese ingredients.
Putu's kitchen is simple, with only a two-burner cooktop but you will be impressed by the speed and fluidity with which she prepares a complex menu with multiple dishes. You will taste a variety of authentic dishes with potential ones being Putu’s grilled eggplant with tomato, grilled fish with Balinese sambal (chili sauce), a curry dish (either chicken, fish or vegetarian) or perhaps a variety of pepes (foods seasoned with local spices, wrapped in banana leaves and steamed). You can expect the cooking lesson to last about 1-2 hours before you sit down and enjoy the delicious meal you helped prepare with your host and her family.

A really beautiful experience. We loved learning about the fresh produce in the garden and using such fresh ingredients to make our meal. Putu is so warm and kind and our teenage daughters said tonight has been their favourite part of our visit to Bali. The food is delicious and we will now try to make the dishes at home (thank you for the recipes, Putu!). We also really appreciated being picked up and returned to our hotel and having a private experience with just our family. We highly recommend this experience.

The cooking class was really enjoyable and it was lovely of Putu to show us her family home. We would highly recommend this experience to anybody wants an insight to the Balinese cooking experience. Lots beautiful dishes that’s super yummy!

Great cooking experience in an authentic balinese family home. Our teacher Putu showed us around her home and then we cooked several balinese dishes in her outdoor kitchen. Most ingredients were fresh from her own garden just behind the house. Putu is an excellent teacher. She let us choose the level of spicyness for each dish. We absolutely loved it! Great fun with kids. The kitchen is spotlessly clean. The pickup service from our Ubud hotel was much appreciated. We would book this activity again any time and we highly recommend it to anybody. You even get to take away the leftovers.

This is an excellent activity to see an authentic balinese house and garden. Most ingredients are from Putu‘s own garden and are therefore very fresh and delicious. Putu is a very good teacher and she always lets you choose how spicy you want to make your dish. We just simply loved it! Great fun with kids. The outdoor kitchen is spotlessly clean. The food was sooo delicious and we even got to take home the leftovers. The pickup service from our Ubud hotel was a great help. I would book this again any time!

Exceptional experience, it’s as authentic as it gets. Putu was a great host and her family were all lovely. The food we cooked was out of this world, all ingredients came from her garden. Just encase there are any vegans/vegetarians, Putu was very accommodating as my wife is vegetarian and I was still able to eat meat as well.
Would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a 100% authentic experience.

If you have the opportunity to do this class, book it! It was a beautiful experience for my family of four. I loved hearing about the Balinese culture and how everything is basically garden to table.
Not only was the food amazing but it was simple cooking. My six year old partook in everything, from cooking to frying. The 3 year old played and nibbled here and there Putu was very patient with him.
So grateful to have been able to share that moment with her and her family.
The food was phenomenal not like what you get in the city area, highly highly recommend!!!

It was a memorable time!
Since I was traveling with 3-year-old twins, there were many restrictions on my activities. But Putu accepted my family willingly and let her nephew looked after my children while I cooked, so I was able to spend enjoyable time with my husband.
I have tried Balinese cuisine before, and it was nice to be able to experience more authentic Balinese cuisine here. I was able to pack leftovers so I ate a lot until dinner.
Highly recomand for family travellers!

Putu has created a well organised, fun and tasty true Balinese cultural experience.
From the time we arrived until the time we left we felt incredibly welcomed and it was a great insight into how a traditional Balinese home really is.
I would absolutely recommend this cooking class and experience very highly if u want something incredibly authentic.
The food we cooked was divine and we learnt so much.
