Aveiro Canal Cruise in Traditional Moliceiro Boat

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the cruise very much. Our cruise director danced for us and was quite entertaining!

Reserved and paid for cruise on Viator for Sunday April 28. Drove from Spain and arrived Aveiro to find all access points to center of town and the canal blocked off for some kind of an event!
The town was mobbed; there was no available parking within 1 1/2 to 2 kilometers of the canal and after searching for a spot for upwards of 30 minutes we decided to continue on to Porto! Clearly the tour operator and Viator should have known about this situation well in advance and warned prospective purchasers of the problems so they could make an informed decision on whether or not to purchase tickets!!!!
NOT GOOD VIATOR!!!!

The boat trip itself is absolutely uninteresting. You do not go to the estuary, you do not venture outside the city. You go back and forth in 2 canals without anything worth seeing. The comparison with venice and amsterdam is beyond ridiculous. The sole reason the trip gets two stars is because of Antonio, our guide. He tried his best in reasonably good English, telling about the few places of interest and the history of aveiro. He also gave good restaurant tips and allowed kids to sail the boat. Had I known that this boat trip was the highlight of aveiro I would not have gone to Aveiro given the time (1h10 from porto) and cost. The city center is nice but nothing special in portugal.

A SHORT BOAT TOUR. (ABOUT 20/30 MINUTES) SOME PRETTY BUILDINGS. A DYNAMIC GUIDE INTRODUCED US TO THE BUILDINGS AND THE AREA IN SEVERAL LANGUAGES. IT WAS AN EXCURSION INCLUDED IN OUR DAY, AFTER A 3-HOUR HIKE IN THE MOUNTAIN, WE ENJOYED IT.
THE BOATS ARE PRETTY. NOTHING TO DO WITH VENICE, THE COLORFUL HOUSES WOULD RATHER MAKE YOU THINK OF BURANO (BUT THERE ARE FEW OF THEM)
WE LOVE TRADITIONS AND AS WE ARE REAL TOURISTS, WE ENJOY ALL THE GOOD MOMENTS OF A TRIP, EVEN THE SIMPLEST!

Great way to see Aveiro and to get a venice-like feel to a day out. Well organised and some information given. Highly recommended if in Aveiro.

The company's own guide on board was not only "borderline" in appearance. Her explanations were in such poor English, both acoustically and linguistically, that she had to make do with a translation program on her smartphone, the content of which had to be read out by one of the guests. Not worth a cent!
