Wadi Bani Awf is stunning. Renowned as one of the most fantastic tourist locations in the nearby area surrounding Muscat.

The tour with Viator did not start as we had planned and had booked. After a long delay, and with the assistance of the hotel we managed to track down the local contact for our trip.
This person was very vague about our trip, but promised the guide would turn up.
After a nearly hour delay our guide turned up. He was very pleasant and helpful, except the trip he had been told we were to take differed completely from what we had booked.
Due to the delays it was now not possible to take the trip we had planned. After consultation with our guide, we decided on an option that would work for us.
We ended up going to Wani Bani and a couple of other local sites on the road trip from Muscat to Wani Bani. We ended up having a great day, which was all down to our guide, who was a local contracted guide and did not work for Viator.
My partner and I were extremely disappointed in Viator and the lack of local numbers we could call them on. All calls to them had to be to Dubai, the staff that we spoke to were not that helpful and could only confirm that we had indeed booked and paid for our trip. This is extremely poor and disappointing as we had been looking forward to the trek through Snake Gorge and Wani Bani.
The local contact was equally unhelpful again he could only vaguely remember our booking and seemed at a loss when we rang him to find out why we had not been picked up at the agreed time 7am
Although we had confirmed the day before for this trip and the extremely poor response from Viator, I would not recommend using them until they set up an established and reliable office in Oman that can reasonably answer and sort out any problems or queries. Having to ring Dubai to confirm our trip also adds another intl call cost.
But as stated earlier, thanks to our local contracted guide who was not the original guide but a fill in we had a great day.
Our holiday to Oman was great except for this one mishap
