Excellent tour. The tour guide was very nice and very experienced, he told us how to navigate the markets to get the best out of the experience. It was compact, feels like a rush at times but I think it's just right. Highly recommended

Hi guys, I feel like an honest review is really needed here. I’m glad I went but wouldn’t go again. Firstly you need to allow 8 hours not 6. What happens is they pick you up for your hotel you drive to another meeting place of all the vans and wait around half an hour for all the vans to be full. Then it’s a 2 hour van ride to the railway tracks where you wait around 15 for the train and jump on a train. Then train takes you half an hour to the market where you jump off. You only have 15 minutes here to look at the market and grab a drink. The back in the van for half an hour to get to the floating market. You hop on a floating boat which is amazing and go down the markets. However it is a bit awkward with other people in the boat to ask the lady to stop at every shop. We did stop at the ice cream and mango sticky rice stall though and it was amazing! Then you get to this area on land with a lot more stalls and food places. You get around 30 minutes here. We bought some dresses and nicnacks for home. Beautiful artwork and so much more! Then they round you up again for a 2 hour slog back to Bangkok but they don’t drop you back to your hotel. They drop you to the MBK shopping mall and you have to get your own taxi back. As I said I am glad I did it but wouldn’t do it again and wish I knew the time was longer (we had things on in the afternoon) and how much driving there was.

We recently completed this tour, it's was great fun and very informative. Our tour guide Sara (and our driver Mr Apple) of Big Country Experience were great. The train market was busy and thrilling to see how the locals manage on the tracks. The floating market was chaos but fun.
A fantastic day. Thank you.

The tour went through 2 unique markets near Bangkok and was a good way for me (a solo traveler) to do a bit of exploring. Bus to get to the first market was about an hour, and then on the way back to Bangkok (after the floating market) it was an hour and 45 minutes. So quite a bit of time travelling. But if these markets interest you, its a great way to see them.

Do NOT waste your time and money with this tour!!! We got on 16th May 2024 on a small bus for over an hour to get to the train stop in the middle of nowhere in the 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) and 98% humidity. The tour operator claims that the tour is in English. Our female tour guide Gang (she introduced herself with that name) knew several words in English. Horrible! The train was a slow train, stopping at every possible stop along the way. Hot and sweaty from all crowded people around you. When we got to the Railway market, we passed slowly by the market stalls and got off. We were given ONLY 15 minutes to go around the market before the train started going back when the market folds to let it pass. No time for shopping, no time for getting a water or juice in this heat. Then got on the warm buss to go to the Floating market. We had less than an hour to have lunch, drink, shop before we got in the boats to go in the water and explore the floating market boots and stores. Only 30-40 minutes experience there. Then back to the small bus to get back to Bangkok. What was the purpose of all this? To spent money, to get overheated, over sweaty in dusty and not very clean conditions. Do NOT waste your money and time!!!!

Because this is a group larger than 15, everything took longer. Even though it was a half-day tour actually it was from 8 AM until 4 PM. This was not clear in the booking. Other tours that are slightly higher priced get all this done earlier in the day. If you’re looking for value, this is a good tour. I would probably consider a smaller group and spend a little bit of extra money in the future. With that said , the floating market is a Great place to get lots of souvenirs

Great tour guide. Arranged many good photos for us. But, it was a lot of driving, and the floating market was overcrowded. The same tour company sends out ten to fifteen groups, each with their own guide. But, the effect is the same as being on a tour with 100 people.

The actual tour operator here is fine. The train ride in to the market was very good and a great way to experience the train coming into the market station with everyone filming you on the train and wanting to high five you. You also get time to see the train leave so you do get the best of both worlds with that. This part of the trip was brilliant.
If that was the trip you paid for it would have got 5 stars at this point.

We then went to the floating market and it went downhill from there. Again not the tour operators fault but the actual market itself.

You board a boat with other people in cramped conditions whereby the boat is powered by a person with a paddle. It should be a lovely serene experience but it was hell, because there are hundreds of these boats vying to get into small cramped boating lanes all bumping into each other, but that’s not the worst because half of these boats are powered by car engines with huge exhausts that literally plough through the slower boats like ours, hitting us with no care in the world.

In many situations whereby the boats are all at a stand still and these motorised boats are turning there rudders, the huge exhausts are turning and touching people’s arms and heads with red hot metal exhausts and kicking fumes into peoples faces. Honestly, you cannot make this stuff up! What a compete risk of health and safety. You should be told to keep your hands inside the boat before leaving the dock, because a few motorized boats hit ours and scraped down the sides and if your hands would have been there, the steel versus steel edges of the boats would take fingers off no problem - I honestly do not exaggerate. On a couple of occasions the pointed ends of other boats raised onto ours meaning those in our boat had to immediately stand and move away, and on one occasion the boat felt like it was going to tip!

The whole floating market experience was shocking and terrible and none of us in the boat enjoyed it in anyway. When not flirting with clear and present danger, you are then just goaded by sellers all the way with no way to escape. It truly was like a nightmare ride at a messed up amusement park where the main goal is to make you feel you would have rather taken the money for this part of the tour, set light to the notes and sprinkled the burning ashes into your own eyes! That would have been more pleasant!

The guide said that the market has sadly changed over the years, from real authentic sellers to those people selling tat! He was spot on.

Honestly I would avoid the floating market unless you have that part of you where you are tired of your life and want the adrenaline rush of having a rotating propellor being raised and turned into your boat at about a foot’s distance by boat operators who are clearly on a mission to achieve the annual award of the floating market river rage award!

Honestly as I type this, I still can’t believe how this place attracts people. It’s literally boats going around extremely small canals of cess filled water, if you can call brown soup water, in extremely high temperatures, whilst sucking in the same amount of carbon monoxide in that time which would normally be done in a whole year!

Train market and train trip. Brilliant.

The floating market.. someone is having a laugh at your expense if you go here!
