Guided day trip to see the ancient West Bank monuments in Luxor. The tomb of Ramesses III, designated as KV 11, is a complex system in the Valley of the Kings. It has been known since antiquity,the wonderful decorations include colourful painted sunken reliefs featuring the traditional ritual texts (Litany of Ra, Book of Gates etc) and Ramses before the gods. Unusual here are the secular scenes, in the small side rooms of the entrance corridor, showing foreign tributes, such as highly detailed pottery imported from the Aegean, the royal armoury, boats and, in the last of these side chambers, the blind harpists that gave the tomb one of its alternative names: ‘Tomb of the Harpers’

In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in central Luxor or harbor by an air-conditioned vehicle for a full guided trip of about 4 hours. First you will be transported to the Necropolis of Thebes, the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of Luxor. This ancient necropolis is a must-see for Luxor travelers. There you visit four royal tombs, including the Tomb of Ramses, the Tomb of Horemheb, the Tomb of Merenptah .Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of Luxor.

In Egyptian mythology, Ptah is the demiurge of Memphis, god of craftsmen and architects. In the or simply in its falcon form of the new deity, began to be placed in tombs to accompany and protect the dead on their journey to the West of Luxor .Tomb 8, which is located in the Valley of the Kings, was the burial place of the Pharaoh Merneptah and is the model of royal tombs Merneptah was a son of Ramesses II and Queen Isis-Nofret.the tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in 1903. Of coursethere is a material decrease in the number of lateral rooms, and a dramatic increase in the height of the corridors and rooms. He did away with the jogged axis used since the time of Horemheb and instead built the entire tomb on a single axis. Also, for the first time, the entrance was made considerably wider than earlier tombs .

Entrance fees to the tomb of Tutankhamun (450 EGP) (optional) King Tutankhamun, the most famous king in the world. This young king from the New Kingdom was around 10 years old when he ascended the throne and died when he was only 19. You will get the chance to be face to face with his royal mummy in his tomb in the Valley of the Kings

The tomb of Ramses IV (KV 2) in the Valley of the Kings is rather different than most other tombs built here. This tomb is by far the most spectacular of the other tombs you will see. The hieroglyphics on the wall depict scenes from the Litany of Ra, Book of the Dead, Book of Caverns, the Book of the Heavens, Book of Amduat, and the Book of the Night. The blue and white colors on the walls inside the burial chamber are very vibrant and you can see the king's sarcophagus made of rose-colored granite. There is also a beautiful scene of goddess Nut on the ceiling, where she is depicted swallowing the sun, and it traveling through her stomach, for Nut to give birth to it. The tomb has so much colour and detail even the ceiling above the sarcophagi with its goddess Nut stretching across the space. The sarcophagus is one of the largest in the valley, even though some of the paintings have deteriorated this is one of the most decorated.

Tomb of King Ramesses lx was the third pharaoh of the Twentieth Dynasty of the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. His name prior to assuming the crown was Amonhirkhopshef. He was the fifth son of Ramesses III and was appointed to the position of crown prince by the twenty-second year of his father's reign when all four of his elder brothers predeceased his promotion to crown prince . The tomb has so much colour and detail even the ceiling above the sarcophagi with its goddess Nut stretching across the space. The sarcophagus is one of the largest in the valley, even though some of the paintings have deteriorated this is one of the most decorated.

Khalid was an excellent tour guide and was very knowledgeable, giving us a very good insight into the history of the Valley of the Kings as well as Egyptian culture and history. Hassan, our driver was always ready and waiting when we were ready to leave.

+ The guide was on time, the car was clean and comfortable and the tour provided lots of interesting information about ancient Egypt and the Valley of the Kings. The guide also got us through the ticket line quickly and recommended the most interesting tombs to visit. We did not feel rushed in any way.

- We could have done without the stop at the craft village as we had no interest in buying trinkets. The guide offered us options to see other sights not on the itinerary but I felt the prices quoted for the add-ons were a bit steep, so we decided against doing this sadly.

Valley of the kings is unbelievable. Most impressive hieroglyphics. Vivid colors. Amazing tombs. In terms of seeing ancient pharaohs tombs it is extremely impressive.

Abdul was a brilliant and memorable guide, he took us on a half day tour of the Valley of the Kings with a stop off at the stone carvers (more on that later), he had a deep knowledge of the history of Egypt (he is an Egyptologist and lectures at Universities around the world), he clearly knows his stuff. He showed us the best tombs to go to, provided key historical facts before we entered and even helped us to fend off the hustling market sellers! A truly memorable day which was made better by the deep and well communicated historical context. We stopped off at the stone carvers on the way back which was great too, a well rehersed demo of an art that has been passed down for many generations from Howard Carter's water boy, brilliant stuff! The stone pieces on display were very well made and there was no hassle to purchase. We picked up a small carving and negotiated the price right down, do not be afraid to play hard ball and go really low and threaten to walk if the price is not right. We went from E£8000 to E£2000. Great fun. All in all a brilliant day that I will remember for a long time to come.

We had a great half day tour from Luxor to the Valley of the Kings during which our experienced and knowledgeable guide Abdul explained all that we needed to know. On the drive there we were treated to coffee and on the return journey we paused at a small village where the locals entertained us with a demonstration of how they create Alabaster carvings. Most enjoyable and highly recommended.

We had a great half day tour from Luxor to the Valley of the Kings during which our experienced and knowledgable guide Abdul explained all that we needed to know. We then booked a second trip out with Abdul two days later, visiting the Temple of Hatshepsut.

Our guide Abdul, took my dad and I round the valley of the Kings. Abdul is incredible knowledgeable and we walked away having learnt a lot. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to go!
