On this day tour from Edinburgh, you can see the Scottish Highlands, Glencoe, film locations and take a journey on the Jacobite Steam Train over the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct.
We travel directly for Fort William to board the Jacobite Steam Train for the greatest railway journey in the world, it's the perfect way to see some of famous movie spots. One of the most iconic images in the films is that of the Jacobite Steam Train known to us all as the ‘Hogwarts Express’ travelling over the Glenfinnan Viaduct.
On arrival to the fishing village of Mallaig with its ferry route to the Isle of Skye (which you will get views of on a clear day) you will have a rest from location spotting to enjoy some free time in the village with many choices for lunch. From Mallaig you will again board the coach where we will have a stop at the Glenfinnan visitor centre for an excellent chance to photograph the steam train returning across the viaduct, before we return to Edinburgh via Pitlochry.

I’ve enjoyed so much this one day adventure on such beautiful and dreamy landscapes!! I took a thousand pictures, every place looked amazing, even tho when it was raining it was still incredible. Thanks a lot to Brian the driver for explaining all the interesting details about the places and for being such a kind person!

We had a blast during this tour. Our guide Brian was very knowledgeable, kept thing interesting, and was very funny. He was professional and made sure all the people on his bus were accounted for before leaving. Would do this again 10 out of 10

I'll preface that I did not actually get to go on this tour [BECAUSE THEY CANCELLED] so my review is not on the tour itself but the company. I planned my trip to Edinburgh around this tour and we were really excited, but a week before I received an email that said the train had not released enough tickets to the tour group, so they had to cancel my booking. I think it's a really poor business model to sell people bookings that they don't have confirmation on beforehand and can't deliver. It's the first time I've ever experienced something like this booking a tour I found on Tripadvisor, so I'm pretty disappointed with the logistics of the operation.

Lovely tour with great stops along the way, the highlight being the beautiful steam train ride. What really made our tour special was our guide Brendan, who filled in at the last minute while he was feeling under the weather. He still went out of his way to give us an amazing tour and make sure we were able to get the all the best views, while giving us loads of interesting information and fun. Would recommend Grayline tours to anyone! Thank you again Brendan!

5 stars for Brendan our driver, who was funny, personable, and a wealth of information about the history of the sights we saw and about locations that had been used in various movies. He kept us entertained and safe on a LONG drive all over the Highlands. The sights themselves were terrific: beautiful countryside and a fantastic train ride on the Jacobite Express!

The only negative issue was that we got a late start due to some issues related to drivers (this is where Brendan saved the day) and lack of communication from the booking company to guests about not only the delayed start, but logistics of which bus we were supposed to be on, etc. We were told by our driver that the info should have come to us via email, but I and several other guests on the tour received no information either by email or on the app, which made the morning a little less organized than it should have been. Again, Brendan handled everything perfectly but the booking company should have been on top of that so that our driver didn’t have to worry about it.

Overall, would recommend this tour!

This tour was too long on an uncomfortable bus. I booked it as it has been a dream to ride the Hogwarts express.
The tour was well organized with a decent guide named Ali who was very pleasant and informative. A few good stops.
I was disappointed with the train experience. Had a bad viewing seat ( was assigned) difficult to take one photo.
Not good value for the money.

The tour was extraordinary whether you’re a Harry Potter fan or not. The highlands are amazing, stunning, incredible. The train is so fun. The villages are beautiful.

Now the good part. If you can get Braden as driver/guide. He is hilarious while also knowledgable about the history geography.

You will love this!!!

Magnificent day in the highlands with the Jacobite express. Sumptuous landscapes, typical villages, magnificent weather and a special mention for Brandon, a super brilliant guide who delighted us with the history of Scotland, his songs and his contagious good humor.

Super funny and entertaining driver on a brilliant tour. Ride the Hogwarts express and see it crossing the viaduct on the way back.
A must do when in Edinburgh.
