This could’ve been a great tour.
Instead of cancelling the tour, the tour operator informed us when we arrived for the tour that the guide couldn’t make it. Why would you take the booking if you knew this!?
The driver had texted us with pick up information the day before which should have been our first clue that something was up.
We were flummoxed when he told us this at pick up and the tour operator recognized this and mentioned that he didn’t want a bad review.
We went from a guided tour to 6 sights with tickets and 30 minutes at each sight to a taxi ride to Cassis and a 5 min drive by to two sites, not even a proper visit.
The tour guide convinced us when switching the tour that this was a better option and he would be there to guide us and another group. We wanted to see two specific sites and be assured us we would visit them. We saw the tour operator once for a few minutes while he took a break from his other group.
Mind you true driver was excellent at driving but since he was not a guide there was no commentary during the entire 4 hour tour and we never got to the two other sites promised in the compromise.
We paid for a guided tour and received a taxi ride. And when asked about a partial refund, the tour operator informed me that Viator took a third of the booking fee so he could refund part of his fee, 8% to be exact. We paid over $1100 for this tour.
Beware of this company, Marseilles Driver Service.
