Full-Day Northern Lights Trip from Tromsø

This tour was great, we were given nice warm suits and shoes (don’t forget your gloves and hat!) and set off in a bus.
We drove for about an hour and then spent the next couple of hours watching the Northern Lights!

After watching for a while the tour guide then built a fire and we had hiking type food that you cook with hot water that was actually really good. Hot chocolate and marshmallows.

I would definitely book this tour again.

Just a disclaimer about the northern lights, we actually got to see it which was incredible, but they didn’t actually look green, they looked more like grey clouds. The videos you see of them dancing are timelapsed. I think it depends on how strong they are, but just keep that in mind to taper expectations! Your pictures will look much better than your eyes can see!

Excellent trip to see the Northern Lights. Julian was a knowledgeable and attentive guide. Whether it was best place to see the lights, how to set up a camera, or simply adding water to reconstitute our evening meal.

We had booked with Arctic Explorers few weeks before we travelled to Tromso . The tour provided by them is a small bus one comprised of 15 tourists. We were picked up by Naira an incredible woman adventurer who was also our guide for the night from city centre to a place in city where all were asked to change in thermal suits and proper snow boots as it would be a long night.
After that we were given option for last toilet break before our chase began. The first sighting of lady was near Lygen fjord but since it was not so strong Naira took us to northern Finland where we had very good sightings and also had camping and food.

Our guide Naira was very professional .
Only thing i regret if the tour company could have provided us with tripods as i had requested them earlier but got no help from anyone.

Great experience, julien is a great tour guide! We were really lucky and got to see the northern lights. The spot they chose was incredible. Would recommend this tour 100%.

The suits and boots they provided were great for the cold weather, and allowed us to have a great time.

If you ever want to see the Northern Lights and learn about science behind it, Arctic Explorers and (Julien) should be your top choice. Everything about the trip was excellent - the tour includes full Baffin suits and boots, a camp fire and marshmallows, some dinner and the best guide you can get. The tour took us to a great spot for pictures and ensured we were not in a spot that was too windy. Overall an excellent experience. Highly recommend

The views were good and Julien is a great guide. He’s friendly and informative and helpful. From ensuring we were warm to checking on our cameras and taking backup pictures, he is the best!

Great professionals, the guide and the bus driver did everything in order we had the greatest time. They provided us with good quality of thermal suits and boots. Took very nice pictures of all of us at no extra charge. Juliane our guide was incredible!!

This was the most amazing expedition. Our guide, Tomas, was super knowledgeable and easy to talk to. We were lucky to see the lights early on in the night, but then spent a wonderful evening by the bonfire sharing food and stories. The astronaut food was a bit scary at first but so delicious! Tomas had so much excitement for seeing the lights, and you could truly see his passion for being a guide. On the ride home, nearly everyone (including myself) fell asleep but my partner and Tomas chatted the entire way back, and that was one of his fondest memories from the trip. This was our second expedition yet it was significantly better than the first with a different company (which was the highest rated on Viator). Professional, excited, and adventurous - these are the people you need to see the lights!

You’re reading this review to help you decide on booking the trip? I’m telling you, take it! And take at least two nights.

You’ll see diferent landscapes in two nights and see the Aurora if the heavens permit.

Julien is a wonderful guide. He is very passionate about what he do and made sure that we got the best experience there is.

Honestly our tour felt more like a family outing than a company arranged one. Imagine your family driving out of town for a picnic by the beach, camp fire and dinner under the Aurora, hot chocolate in the snow and marshmallows by the bonfire 🥰

Thank you Julien, you should realize that what you do makes people’s dream of seeing the Northern Lights a dream come true.

I wish I can do this again with my friends next time.
