Wonderful way to see a lot of the city! Quinn was a fantastic guide and spent extra time explaining different aspects of the various temples and shrines - very knowledgeable and engaging. The lunch stop was delicious and at a 400 year old restaurant - just an awesome experience all around.

We loved hopping on bicycles, getting a pedaling overview of North Kyoto while giving our feet a welcome break from the miles of walking we had done in Tokyo. The bicycles were in fine condition and easy to operate. Our guide Shawn, an Australian, was kind and patient and knew his way around town and kept us off the busy streets. He navigated us quickly through the ticket lines and got us into the sights very efficiently. What wasn't efficient was our delayed start-time because of the late arrival of the other party. But my group kindly agreed to it; it was was the gracious thing to do and it led to an accidental highlight of the bicycle tour, a Geisha sighting! Had we started 30 minutes earlier, we would have missed cycling right by the Geisha-in-training, a petite, white-faced figure, gliding down a quiet, narrow street, mid-day, in five inch wooden platform shoes that she kept artfully silent.
And need I mention all eight of us were miraculously silent and respectful. We never stopped pedaling and while our group stopped more times than I wanted for photo-ops throughout the tour, not this time: we were properly advised by our wonderful Trip Advisor that it would not be the gracious thing to do. Thank you Shawn for a wonderful introduction to Northern Kyoto and for the 'bicycle accident"!

Julian was an amazing tour guide. So informative about Kyoto and Japanese culture. Made the day really fun, and showed us parts of the city we wouldn’t have otherwise found or know much about. The noodle restaurant we went to for lunch was delicious. Absolutely recommend doing early on in your stay in Kyoto to get to know the city.

Great tour with a small group. The guide was excellent. It was a very hot day and he made sure there was plenty of water available for the entire group and that everyone was comfortable. Lunch was included and was at a sushi train - it was excellent.

Jay was an incredible host. He was hilarious and had a fun take on Kyoto. Biking was the best way to tour the city! Can’t wait to have my family take part in this tour

This was by far one of our highlights of our entire trip to Japan! We met our tour operator Sean super close to the Kyoto station in a little alley. That’s kind of hard to find – so hopefully they put up a little A-frame sign with their logo so you can find them a little bit easier! The bikes were in very good condition and all shapes and sizes for every type of rider. Our journey included multiple trips to temples and various shrines – our God was super informative and knew not only the history of Japan, but also the culture and specifics relative to every landmark that we stopped at. We read through the university of Kyoto and took a beautiful bike ride along the philosopher‘s path – we stopped for wonderful tea, cakes, and coffee, midway, and ended our journey with an awesome bowl of Ramen in a place we never would’ve found our own! It was truly a magical day & we can’t be more grateful for the experience! 5 Stars Shaune!

Jay was great. Like a longtime friend who'd moved to Kyoto and invited you for a bike ride. His knowledge of history and local places to see and visit were awesome. I took my 2 kids (20&17) and he was watchful, concerned about their enjoyment, and made it fun for them. The other people in our group were like longtime friends too, when the ride was over. Highly recommend Jay and Cycle Kyoto.
