Jump on a bike from our all new e-bike fleet for an early-bird tour of the highlights of south and east Kyoto.
We meet bright and early for a short orientation before heading straight south to enjoy the majestic Fushimi Inari Shrine before the crowds arrive. From here we will catch the splendour of Tofukuji Temple before stopping for a morning coffee at one of our favourite haunts. The next part of our journey takes us up the Kamo river and over to the UNESCO listed Ginkakuji Temple. After Ginkakuji, we will roll slowly south down the iconic Path of Philosophy and into the grounds of Nanzenji Temple (complete with traditional gardens, ornate religious buildings and even a red brick aquaduct). After a sit down lunch (provided), the last leg of our journey takes us south along the Shirakawa Canal and through the streets of Gion before arriving at the gates of Higashi Honganji Temple and finally home to base.

We had a great day with Jules! My family loves to ride bikes so we were all excited for a full day of touring. We hit all the hot spots, stopped at a cool cafe for coffees and snacks, had lunch at a unique Okinawan spot, and went home tired but happy! Jules kept his positive attitude and energy going the whole day. We love Kyoto!

This tour was the best way to see Kyoto. Not only did it give our feet a rest for the day , but we learnt so much about the city and its people. Paul was very accommodating to all participants. A MUST DO.

We had an exceptional experience exploring Kyoto by bike! It was informative, interesting and entertaining and we saw far more than we would if by car or walking. Juan was charming and clearly has a deep love and respect for Japan, he provided great insight snd we enjoyed stopping for coffee and lunch during the tour. We felt well taken care of and will recommend this tour to friends and family as they travel to Kyoto.

This was so much fun. The place was a little tricky to find, but that’s more user error than anything else. Our tour guide Carl was funny but also gave us a lot of information. You use e-bikes, but make sure you can do this activity physically. There were a few uphills so that was a little challenging. You cover a lot of ground during the tour and most times you’re riding your bike on very busy areas so you have to be aware of your surroundings while managing to keep up with the tour. I’m only 5 foot so I had to use their smaller bike, which was actually perfect for me and I felt secure and stable while riding on it.

E bikes were a great experience and made biking easy. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we saw everything on a schedule. We had some great food as well. Very well put together and so much fun!!

This was a really nice experience! Our guide Maiko ( I hope I spelled her name right) was very knowledgeable about the city and its culture/ structures. She was very friendly throughout and allowed us quite a bit of freedom on the bikes. She also picked routes that allow you to go fast at times on your bike if you want to. I booked this tour with family and we ended up making friends with the others in the group. You’ll be spending most of the day together so it’s quite nice meeting others as a bonus. Definitely recommend this tour!

We loved our private tour with Cycle Kyoto! We had a great day cycling around to see some of the incredible shrines and temples of Kyoto. Our group of 5 had a blast and felt the tour was well paced, very informative and fun! Juan was very knowledgeable about the history and cultural significance of the places we visited, and Akira, an Osaka local, shared a ton of interesting information with us about Osaka and Kyoto (and took some fantastic pics for us! Thank you!). This was definitely the perfect way to see part of Kyoto and we will book another tour when we are back!

Our family (children ages 11 & 13) had an amazing day cycling around Kyoto with our wonderful guide Julian. We stopped at multiple sights, had a relaxing coffee break & a delicious lunch in Gion. Julian was able to give us an understanding of Japanese culture & life- a huge thank you Cycle Kyoto!! Would book another tour without hesitation

We really enjoyed our e-bike tour with Quin. His knowledge and enthusiasm for Kyoto is infectious and really made our tour. The e-bikes are so easy to ride and pretty much anyone could ride them with only minimal levels of fitness.
