A day trip that combines relaxation and history gives you the chance to visit the highlights of the Northeast part of Crete, where the picturesque town of Agios Nikolaos with the magnificent lake can be found. Elounda, a small village on the shore of Mirabello bay with spectacular views, is where the boat begins the cruise heading to Spinalonga island, a small uninhabited island used during the history as a fortress and later on as a leper colony. On the way back to Elounda Port the boat will anchor so you can dive in the refreshing waters.

The tour was relaxing. It allowed us enough time to explore each place included. Plus, our tour leader, Michael, was superb.

It’s was a good trip but the aircon on the bus was not good so felt very uncomfortable for the 3 hrs drive! Would have been 4 rating if the bus trip was cooler.

Great day out, well organised. Thought there was plenty of time at each stop to do what we wanted. Friendly and informative. Would recommend.

Wonderful informative tour guide who speaks 6 languages. Everything was said in English, German and French. Also a great bus driver who took us to great locations. We had a wonderful day planned for us. This included swimming at two locations. Would definitely recommend this tour!

Starting our journey at Heraklion City Center, we picked up numerous other guests from the beach resorts before finally heading towards Agios Nikolaos. There was a brief glimpse of the scenic Lasithi mountains from the bus. We had time for breakfast at the pretty town of Agios Nikolaos. By the time we reached Elounda to travel to Spinalonga by boat, it was scorching hot. This tour does not include a guide around Spinalonga, so we wandered about for an hour. We returned to the boat for a brief swim. Afterwards, 90 minutes in Elounda felt too long, before finally returning to Heraklion.

Nice trip. Agios Nikolaos and Elounda are beautiful villages. What we've liked the most was the boat to Spinalonga.

Wonderful trip to the east, well planned, enough time for everything. The only drawback was the tour guides, who only read their stories, which is not very exciting.

The boat trip provided many photo opportunities. The island itself was very interesting and informative. It is actually a shame for Europe that the leprosy station was only closed in 1957, although a cure for leprosy has been available since the 1930s.
