Delight in a small-group experience exploring Sausalito's best restaurants through delicious offerings of food and wine. Enjoy this beautiful bay-side village with a long-time local (and foodie) who guides you with colorful conversations of how Sausalito began and evolved. Understand how important Sausalito was to Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Robin Williams, Clint Eastwood and so many more. Learn about colorful madam-turned -Mayor, Sally Stanford and how prohibition effected the town. Breathe in gorgeous views of the San Francisco skyline, Angel Island, Alcatraz, East Bay and more. Walk the dock of sailboats on your way to dessert, taking in even more California History. Expect to eat enough food to satisfy lunch with 4-distinct courses. Some will be family-style and plated at the table. You might even get a charming visit from a seal, we usually do!

Our guide, Viv, was fun and well informed.

The selected restaurants had wonderful food and wine.

We were introduced to the best clam chowder we’ve ever had.

We began with a Chandon bubbly and a cheese plate, moved to the restaurant with chowder accompanied by a lovely rose, and to Poggio for delicious gnudi with a great Scarpatta Barbera and ended with a bread pudding like no other with white port on an outdoor deck. Everywhere the views were great and the guide a good conversationalist.

Great restaurant selections. Very good course selections: charcuterie w/ bubbly, unique clam chowder w rosé, gnudi w/ scarpetta, bread pudding w/ white port. Best food quality I’ve ever had on a food tour. Very informative and personable guide. Moderate flat walking in scenic location.

This review should be read in full since there are both pros and cons.
Pros -
1. Viv was our tour guide and she was amazing! So incredibly personable and knowledgeable of all things food, wine, and the area!
2. The food was absolutely incredible, I actually went back to one of the restaurants after the tour because I was craving the one dish so much but the service was terrible (but not for the tour).
3. The wine and scenery were also amazing!
Cons -
Left hungry - see
We knew another couple that eats about the same amount as we do and they left very full (different tour). I am not sure why but we were not full at all. I think this tour was arranged especially for us since the one we originally scheduled was cancelled.
First place we each got a glass of sparkling wine and a cheese board to split. I am sure the cheeses were expensive and they were delicious - just not a lot of food.
Second place only one glass of wine was ordered and that was split between my husband and I. We had the most incredible clam chowder that I ever had (that is what we went back for) and we each got a normal serving.
Third place again - one serving of wine split between the two of us and one entre split between us and an order of flat bread split.
Forth and final - again split the port wine, split a dessert.
We figured out that that the company made $255 after food, wine and tip. I understand it is a business - again - we thoroughly enjoyed it, just would have liked a little more food and wine.
Our tour guide was so incredibly sweet and gave us so much helpful advise...Hope this helps. Forgot to take a picture of the cheese board.

This tour was really enjoyable. Viv, the tour guide, was the highlight of our day. She was like a walking Wikipedia and knew everything about everything. Just spending the day with her was fun all on its own. The food was great and the wine was superb. We also had a great time hanging out with the other couple on our tour. This has been my 10th food tour or so, and it ranks as one of the best. You don't want to miss it!

Our tour guide had a wealth of knowledge of the town of Sausalito, neighboring San Francisco, all things wine and you could tell she was a “foodie” to her core. My husband and I attended the tour and there was another couple we met at the tour and we had a great time getting to know one another. The views at the restaurants were breathtaking as were the walls to each destination. You won’t be disappointed with this tour!

Great tour of a great town. Viv was fantastic. So very knowledgeable about Sausalito and San Francisco, and fun interesting facts! We thoroughly enjoyed the tour as well as the food (plenty of it) and the wine pairings. A great way to explore a beautiful city, and an absolutely wonderful guide. Highly recommend!

What fun! We had such a blast with Teresa that it truly felt as if we had met up with a friend in Sausalito. She took us to restaurants that all had tables waiting for us, usually the best table in the house. She ordered truly delicious items at each location, paired it all perfectly with beverages, all with a smile upon her face, and laughs along the way. We parted with sincere hugs and hopes of our paths crossing again… just like a good friend.

Great twin, great weather, great company, great food—enthusiastic guide who with us rather than at us, and who added zest and humor to the history she imparted. Visited four restaurants, a chocolate shop, and museum, and so we “covered the waterfront” (pun intended) from perspective of cuisine and culture.

This tour was fantastic! Our group of friends was trying to life the spirits of a friend who had recently lost her husband. It lifted all our spirits...and not just because of the wine. Our tour guide was outstandingly knowledgable about the area and wines, lots of history of the Bay Area from the 1800s. All the stops catered to us nicely because they knew the guide so well. Will definitely do again.

We went on the Sausalito Food and Wine Tour on Saturday, July 27, 2019. It was three girlfriends and Viv, our guide. Viv was fantastic! She was just one of the girls! She was very knowledgeable about the history of our stops, as well as the food and the wine. She was very easy to talk with and wasn't in a hurry. It was a walking tour, so she pointed out various interesting tidbits along the way. The restaurants were well chosen and the food and wines were delicious. By the time our tour was finished, we all felt like we had made a new friend. We would highly recommend this tour and, especially, Viv!
