Enjoy access to Prague's Astronomical Clock and Old Town Hall Tower, a medieval tower with a striking clock that's recognized as one of the city's most beloved landmarks. Learn about the history of this fascinating horologe or timepiece, first constructed by clockmaker Nicholas of Kadaň in 1410. The clock itself boasts many unique features, including the hourly procession of the Twelve Apostles, and the moving figurines of Vanity, Greed, Death, and Lust.

This was a great tour that gave us all the information needed about the clock. The guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything well. The weather wasn’t great that day so we spent most of the time inside the building. The views were amazing from top of the tower! Overall it was a nice tour and I’d recommend it.

One of the most famous tourist sites in Prague is its Prague Astronomical Clock. It is attached to the Old Town Hall in Prague’s Old Town Square.
I understand that it was first mounted in 1410, making it the third oldest astronomical clock in the world. It has been in continuous operation for more than 600 years thus making it the oldest astronomical clock in the world which is still operational.
On the hour large crowds of tourist assemble in front of this celebrated clock to hear its chimes and movements and the parade of the Apostles. But I found it was more interesting to read about the two main parts. The upper colorful circle is the astrolabe, and the lower circle is the Calendar Board. Just as an example of this extra knowledge there are three sets of numbers on the main dial: Roman numerals; Gothic numerals and Arabic numerals, many tourists never notice this major item.
Finally, I found the best time to view this famous astronomical clock is in the early morning around eight am, long before the crowd’s line up in front of this famous clock.

Hardest part was locating the meeting point. Steve gave us an overview of clock history and information before entering the clock tower. He mentioned that there was a minimal charge to take the elevator up to the top....well worth it if you have climbing issues. Views from the tower are great.

Nice experience with a beautiful view, the guide said that the ticket was also for an underground tour, but the two of us had to pay 300 kroner extra for this. And we had the German tour and it was very difficult to understand 🤨 so it was fun upstairs but less so underground

Our guide stopped as we walked to the astronomical clock, adding additional bits of history. We arrived at the tower for the tour but no one told us where we were to meet the tower guide. The sign was at the end of the hall, not near the elevator. We finally met the tour but missed much of it.
